Fortnite sets world record for most participants in an emote routine

Fortnite's emotes seem to have taken on a life of their own. They've popped up everywhere from the 2018 FIFA World Cup final to Strictly Come Dancing, and now they've danced their way into the Guinness Book of World Records. Yes, really.

At this year's Paris Games Week, an enormous group of 383 Fortnite fans gathered to perform an emote routine of Fortnite's greatest hits. Decked out in cuddle team leader hoodies, the oversized squad pulled out classics such as "Hype" and "Fresh" to claim the Guinness World Record for "most participants in a video game emote routine".

To be honest, I doubt if anyone's ever attempted this before, as it's pretty specific. Perhaps it's only a matter of time before PUBG tries to outdo it. Although, to be fair, that game claimed a whopping seven world records last year. Seems like Fortnite has some catching up to do.

Beyond the mass boogie, attendees at Paris Games Week were also able to claim free spray "Kab-LLama", which appears to only be given out at events. Naturally, it's already appearing online in giveaways, and some are even selling the codes for €10 a pop. Naughty.

If that spray doesn't float your boat, you might want to hang on for the next major addition to the game. Fortnite's in-game news screen has announced that balloons will soon be added in a future update, although how they'll work is still something of a mystery. The only clue we have is the blurb, which hints the items may provide an alternative to travelling by rift. I'm pretty gassed about it, to be honest.
