Foundation 9 industry's "secret weapon"
"The world's largest independent developer."
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix developer Foundation 9 reckons it's the world's "largest independent game developer".
It's claimed responsible for nearly 15 per cent of the 300 or so games on Xbox Live Arcade. Its top five XBLA games by revenue have generated more than $22 million.
Foundation 9 owns six studios: Backbone Entertainment, Double Helix, Griptonite, ImaginEngine, Pipeworks and Sumo Digital.
Backbone is probably the most high-profile of the lot: it's responsible for Capcom's Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 port. But Sumo Digital runs it close. It's created Outrun and Virtua Tennis games in the past.
"Foundation 9 Entertainment is the game industry's secret weapon," said CEO James North-Hearn. "While most consumers don't know our name, the biggest and best-loved game publishers around the world turn to Foundation 9 Entertainment to build games for all genres and platforms."
