Friday the 13th: The Game gets a May release date
Just in time for summer camp.
Friday the 13th: The Game will launch on 26th May for PS4, Xbox One and Steam, publisher Gun Media has announced.
The asymmetrical multiplayer survival title will let one player assume the role of classic horror villain Jason Voorhees, while another seven will play camp counselors searching the campgrounds for a means to escape.
The original film's director Sean Cunningham, and composer Harry Manfredini, will be involved as well, along with the actor/stuntman Kane Hodder who will reprise his classic role of Jason via motion capture.
At launch Friday the 13th: The Game will only include multiplayer options, but bots will be added later this summer to allow for single-player challenges as well.
The game will launch for $40 (or your local equivalent), on all platforms.
This Friday the 13th game was originally planned by developer IllFonic as an original IP called Summer Camp, but the Cunningham saw the early build and figured it would fit the Friday the 13th license perfectly. It wasn't long after that a Kickstarter was launched and the Friday the 13th game raised $823,704.
