GameStop: Wii U software pre-orders more than double those of the Wii's

WU!

US retailer GameStop has revealed that it's received 1.2 million pre-orders on Wii U games, which is more than double what it saw on Wii launch titles back in 2006.

This information comes out of a Gamasutra report, where it noted that GameStop's stock of 500,000 consoles sold out via pre-orders almost immediately after the purchasing option became available in September.

This means people are pre-ordering 2.4 games per console.

The retailer noted some of the most commonly pre-ordered titles were Zombie U, Assassin's Creed 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Scribblenauts Unlimited, and New Super Mario Bros. U.

It's not a bad line-up as we've already given both New Super Mario Bros. U and Nintendo Land high marks in their respective reviews.

Conversely, when the Wii came out, there weren't many quality titles available at launch besides The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Trauma Center: Second Opinion and Rayman: Raving Rabbids.
