Gears 2 story will be "much better" - Tsunoda
First game's wasn't as "robust".
Microsoft's Kudo Tsunoda has admitted that Gears of War 1's story "wasn't necessarily as robust as it could have been" but expects the second game to change all that.
"I think that's stuff that we're really going to blow out in Gears of War 2," he told Eurogamer in an interview that you can watch in video form as part of our Cliff Bleszinski and Kudo Tsunoda text-and-video double-header.
"We've got Josh Ortega, who's like a great comic book writer, totally focused on the story and we'll want to do a much better job of that," he said.
In Gears of War 1, Dominic Santiago broke you, Marcus Fenix, out of prison before the pair of you joined up with COG forces on a mission to retrieve and deliver a resonator into the heart of the Locust underground lair. Things became complicated and you ended up on a train containing a massive bomb.
In terms of characters though, Tsunoda said there "wasn't much variety" and that as well as deepening the characterisation of people like Dom the second game will be "adding some new characters that really bring their own individual flair to it".
"Whether it's the development of the story or the additions of the new characters, there'll be a lot more for everybody to enjoy out of the whole story experience," he concluded.
