A walkthrough for the fourth and final part of God of War's second mission.

Defeat the Troll! That's your next task, and it's quite a pressing one seeing as the big monster comes bursting straight through those doors without much warning.

Here on this page, we'll take you through everything you need to know about this section of your quest, including how to solve any puzzles, take down any bosses and find any useful loot along the way. For guides to specific collectibles we also have pages on Valkyrie locations and how to open Hidden Chambers, Lost and Found locations and Faces of Magic locations, too.

This page follows on from God of War - Witch's Cave, Lake of Nine and the Foothills, and is the third of a few pages covering the lengthy Path to the Mountain quest.

Defeat the Ogre

Wham! There's a Ogre, coming straight at you through the big doors as you try to leave the previous area.

This is probably the toughest fight yet. Not only do you have the Ogre to deal with - which is a more mobile, feisty big monster than the Trolls you've been battling so far - there are several Reavers around the battlefield too..

The first thing to make sure you do is stay mobile. Start by taking out the Reavers - stunning one with an axe throw then rushing in to finish is a good way to pick them off one by one - to give yourself some space, but do so whilst staying constantly on the move so as to avoid the Ogre itself.

Once they're a little thinned out, turn your attention to the Ogre. Here, the same rules apply as with Trolls. Distraction, a few whacks, then back off. It has a few different attacks: a ground smash, a flurry of big swingining punches, and some general punches - but generally they're all quite well-telegraphed and easy enough to dodge. Just don't get caught in that flurry of punches in particular.

When you've bludgeoned it down to low enough health, an R3 prompt will appear - but this time it'll take you up onto the Ogre's back, rather than straight into a finisher quick-time-event.

When you're up there, steer the Ogre around and use the shoulder buttons to smash some of the other enemies away - a few more will have spawned by now - and soon enough the best will go down for a count.

A Rare Enchantment - the Symbol of Truth - will pop out when you take it down, along with a Legendary Frozen Flame item for upgrading your axe, and some other assorted goodies, plus the usual things like a new Labour for killing Ogres, too.

Mountain's Base and Hel's Bramble chest

After you've finished hoovering up the Ogre's goodies, head through those doors again - this time peacefully - and hang right.

The main thing to notice here is the chest, to the right, that's restricted behind some overgrowth called Hel's Bramble. Impossible to cut or burn, according to Atreus, there's no way to get to it right now. Come back later when you have the ability to clear it away.

On the right further uphill there's another Hacksilver chest behind the same wiry black bramble, which again you can't get to now. Drink in the ominous scenery and story from the cutscene - the Witch is somehow here too! - and then follow her back down the hill, for your next quest.
