Gone Home to feature classic riot grrrl tunes
Rock out to Heavens to Betsy and Bratmobile.
Gone Home - the urban exploration mystery from the ex-BioShock 2 devs at The Fullbright Company - will feature licensed music from classic riot grrrl bands Heavens to Betsy and Bratmobile.
The music will play an important role in the game's narrative as it revolves around a troubled teenage girl's life in 1995. Discovering new rebellious music during adolescence is one of those coming-of-age rites of passage we can all relate to and it helps cement the time period even further.
"Gone Home takes place in 1995, and follows the story of Samantha Greenbriar, a teenager dealing with tons of uncertainty, heartache, and change," explained The Fullbright Company co-founder Steve Gaynor. "In the game, Sam is introduced to Riot Grrrl music by a friend, and it changes her life."
"Authenticity is our number one priority, and the inclusion of tracks by Heavens to Betsy and Bratmobile really drives home the era and the place and the feelings surrounding the story of Gone Home," he added.
The final Gone Home soundtrack will feature six tracks from the albums Calculated by Heavens and Betsy and Pottymouth by Bratmobile.
I previewed Gone Home last November where I found its rendition of a giant lonely manor inhabited by a missing suburban family to be "astonishingly detailed." It even features authentic mom handwriting.
Now rock out to the tune of being a teenager in the new Bratmobile-scored trailer below.
