GTA IV wins Game of the Year at VGAs
Gears 2, MGS4, Left 4 Dead, LBP clean up.
Grand Theft Auto IV took Game of the Year honours at last night's Video Game Awards - the Spike TV venture in the US that's staking its claim on the vacant position of videogame Oscars.
GTA IV also won best action adventure, and "best performance by a human male" for Michael Hollick, who voiced Niko.
Other multiple winners were Gears of War 2 (best shooter, best Xbox 360 game), Rock Band 2 (best soundtrack, best music game), Left 4 Dead (best multi-player game, Best PC game), Metal Gear Solid 4 (best graphics, best original score, best female human performance) and LittleBigPlanet, which claimed best PS3 game as well as Studio of the Year for Media Molecule.
Boom Blox was judged the best Wii release of the year. Burnout Paradise won the racing game award, Fallout 3 was the best RPG, Soul Calibur IV took fighting honours, Professor Layton was voted the best handheld game, and Wold of Goo won best independent game.
Most surprising loser was Fable II, which went home empty-handed. Most surprising winner? Shaun White Snowboarding, probably.
