Microsoft has announced the public beta test for the much-anticipated Halo: Reach will run until 19th May.

That gives players just 17 days to check out the game after the beta's 3rd May start date.

That's even shorter than the three-week Halo 3 beta we once pointedly referred to as "so short".

Microsoft also revealed the schedule for the various game modes that will be tested out in the beta.

Ranked Team Slayer 4x4 "Arena" matches will begin with the beta on 3rd May, along with mixed Free-for-all and Grab Bag matches. The epic Spartan vs. Elite "Invasion" matches will start 7th May, while the "Generator Defense" mode will be available starting 14th May.

Finally, Microsoft said that players who try out the beta will get access to a free Halo: Reach hoodie for their avatar.
