Hearthstone fans aren't happy with UK price rises
Two-pack purchase doubles in cost.
Hearthstone is putting up its card pack prices - and fans aren't happy.
No-one likes to see prices rising, but UK fans in particular have been left feeling burnt.
Pack costs are going up for PC, Mac and Android players who use UK pound sterling or Euro currencies - although UK pound sterling is getting hit far harder.
(iOS users already got their prices raised when Apple recently decided to hike its App Store prices en masse.)
This table, from NeoGAF user Garou, highlights the real issue. Euro prices are going up by a flat 11 per cent. But pound sterling prices are going up far more - as much as 50 per cent for the basic two pack bundle.
Brexit may well be an issue here - just as it was for Apple's price rises. But to see a pack rise in price by 50 per cent has raised many fans' eyebrows.
"Man, the UK is getting hit hard," one fan wrote.
"Year of the Mammoth prices," another said, referencing the upcoming mammoth-themed year of Hearthstone set releases.
Some fans noted how Blizzard's recent decision to move to a three expansion per year model will only squeeze fans' wallets harder.
Others, meanwhile, suggested that the rise in prices will only make the game's easy-to-craft and easy-to-win decks more prevalent - therefore stifling the game's scope for deck creativity.
The in-game price for packs of 100 gold is not expected to be affected.
"We regularly look at our pricing around the world, and from time to time we make changes such as these to align with local and regional market conditions," Blizzard community manager Zaerhinon wrote.
"The price of the Un'Goro prelaunch bundle offer will not be affected by this change and will remain the same until launch."
Blizzard's price rises will take effect on 22nd March.
