Here's how to tell which visiting Animal Crossing: New Horizons character will drop by next

If you've ever wondered if there's a pattern behind which visiting NPCs show up on your Animal Crossing: New Horizon's island and when, wonder no more.
Turns out that there is, indeed, an algorithm behind the random - and not-so-random - appearances from your favourite visitors - and this dataminer thinks they've worked it out.
"So, here's the tea on ACNH NPC spawns," tweeted Ninji (thanks, Nintendo Life). "Every week, you're guaranteed to get Saharah, Kicks and Leif on weekdays (if you meet their criteria, e.g. having Able Sisters built).
"That leaves two weekday slots that will be randomly filled by Gulliver, Label, CJ, Flick or Redd."
"The ones you miss out on will be given priority the following week, as a form of bad luck prevention," Ninji continued. "Celeste appears on days with meteor shower weather patterns (if you get more than one in a week, she'll pick a random one), and is totally separate. Wisp just picks a random day."
