Horizon Frozen Wilds - Into the Frozen Wilds and exploring The Cut
Part 1 of our Horizon: The Frozen Wilds walkthrough.
Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds' Into the Frozen Wilds quest is the first of the expansion, and has you make the initial trek into The Cut, the wintry northern region where the expansion takes place.
We'll guide you through every step of the way here on this page - it's a pretty simple one to start things off, but a scenic route's always a joy in Horizon, at least.

Into the Frozen Wilds - Explore The Cut
This is the very first quest of the expansion - in fact it's the quest that kicks the DLC off itself. We cover exactly how to start The Frozen Wilds on the previous page, so won't cover that aspect in much detail, but otherwise we'll be taking you through the mission from the very beginning, so expect a wee bit of overlap right at the very start.
Talk to Ohtur - Located in Daytower Fort, a chap called Ohtur is the questgiver here. He'll have a blue exclamation mark over his head in traditional questgiver fashion, so he's hard to miss. Talk to him to kick things off.
Explore the Cut - Alright! Time to make the trek north. Either fast-travel to the nearest bonfire to the Grave Hoard, or get cracking on foot if you prefer to enjoy the scenery. Once you reach the Grave Hoard, the way into the mountains is just to the left, marked by a strange blue crystal, a multicoloured symbol for the expansion, and those familiar golden yellow markings to show climbable terrain.

Keep following the waypoint through the snow - you'll encounter a Daemonic Scorcher along the way (Daemonic machines are basically like Corrupted machines from the main story, while a Scorcher is a new one altogether) - until you reach the entrance to the cave with a nearby, horn-blowing guard. Proceed through and out the other side, where you'll reach the town of Song's Edge.

Investigate the Source of the Smoke - Keep following the waypoint until you meet a gathering of people under the strange, red-tinged light. After a lengthy cutscene and some chit-chat with a trader called Burgrend, that's your mission done!
