Horizon Zero Dawn: The Field of the Fallen - Investigate the Battlefield, kill the Ravagers and Investigate the Ambush Site

Horizon Zero Dawn's The Field of the Fallen is a quest following on from The City of the Sun, and since it jumps up a few levels since that last quest, we recommend you tackle Maker's End and The Grave-Hoard first.
You'll need to head back to a place close to Meridian to meet Erend, but it's marked clearly enough on the map, so that's no trouble. What might be trouble, though, is what you uncover about Erend's sister Ersa and the way she died.

Investigate the Battlefield
If you didn't start this quest as soon as it became available, Erend's still easy to find - just activate the quest in your menu and fast travel to the campfire nearby the marker, following him from there.
Follow Erend - Simple enough, he'll start walking and talking as soon as you approach him, and it's not far to go.
Investigate the Battlefield - there are several things here to scan with your Focus:
- Examine the Bloodstains
- Examine the Thicket
- Examine the Spear
- Examine the Helmet
Follow the Cart Tracks - With those items scanned and examined, it seems as though the bodies were moved here from somewhere else. scan and follow the cart tracks nearby.
Kill the Ravagers
Kill the Machines - Some kind of ambush is waiting for you. Kill the machines at the top of the hill, using the Ravager's turret against it if need be.
Investigate the Ambush Site
Like the battlefield below, there are several things to check out here:
- Examine the Bits of Leather
- Examine the Bloodstains
- Examine the Rocks
- Examine the Tripod - on a raised up ledge inside a nearby metal structure.

Talk to Erend - With those scanned and examined, talk to Erend again. That body he first saw may not have been Ersa's after all...
