InstantAction shuts down
Owners trying to sell Torque engine.
InstantAction, the company behind the InstantAction.com streaming games technology and the InstantJam Facebook game, has shut down.
Formerly known as GarageGames, InstantAction was also responsible for the Torque game engine, which boss Eric Preisz has said the company is looking to offload.
"Today, InstantAction informed employees that it will be winding down operations," Preisz posted on the Torque website.
"While we are shutting down the InstantAction.com website and Instant Jam game, Torquepowered.com will continue to operate while InstantAction explores opportunities with potential buyers for Torque. We thank all of our past and current customers for their support."
Last month it was revealed that the company had sold the Tribes first-person shooter IP to Global Agenda developer Hi-Rez Studios.
InstantAction CEO Louis Castle spoke to Eurogamer at Develop earlier this year about the potential for the IA technology and similar browser-based platforms.
