Invade friends' worlds in Disgaea 4
And marvel at the overhauled graphics.
Disgaea 4 will allow online invasions of friends' worlds. Plus, Nippon Ichi is giving the series a serious makeover.
The fourth game - a PS3 exclusive - was announced at the Tokyo Game Show. Nippon Ichi's president (presumably Souhei Niikawa) unveiled the game wearing wearing a Prinny (penguin) suit, according to Joystiq. His costume, he said, showed "how serious we are" that in Disgaea 4 lies "the fate of our company".
The cartoony but devilishly deep strategy RPG will take "stupidity to the max". "I'd love to have questionable politicians play this game," the president joked. The isometric view and 2D sprites will improve significantly and, Niikawa hopes, resemble illustrator Takehito Harada's original art more closely.
Disgaea 4 will be released for Japan in February 2011. A US release will follow, but it's unconfirmed for Europe. Thankfully, PS3 games are region-free.
Disgaea 3 was released on PlayStation 3 last February, a year after its Japanese debut. Eurogamer's Simon Parkin took the plunge.
