You may soon be able to control films on your PS3 using your iPhone or iPod Touch.

This remote cleverness is the brainchild of NetBlender and its swanky BD Touch technology.

It's being built into its DoStudio suite of tools that lets film studios make fancy menus and interactive features for Blu-ray movies.

"It's a technology that is built into our professional Blu-Ray authoring tool that will allow studios, independent movie companies to enable BD Touch features," NetBlender explained to Gizmodo. "These features send data in two directions from the Disc to the Iphone and vice versa. Video, Audio, text, and player commands can be sent.

"Right now it seems everyone likes the remote control idea. However, the player can control the iPhone as well. One idea is to automatically pull up an IMBD of the movie you are watching right on your iPhone, or send that movie information to a movie database on your iPhone.

"The ideas are only limited to what people want and will use," he added.

To begin with, a development kit for these features will be released to those working with the 100k iPhone.

BD Touch will also let you get content from the disc to your phone, like songs and film extras. Advertising opportunities have also been linked with BD Touch and its iProduct integration.

Perhaps Sony may see opportunities of its own to relate to PS3.
