Irrational unveils 1998 Mode for BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Episode Two
Complete the narrative using only non-lethal tools as Elizabeth.
Irrational Games has announced 1998 Mode for BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Episode Two.
This mode challenges players to complete the narrative using only non-lethal tools. The DLC add-on launches on 25th March.
1998 Mode follows 1999 Mode, which was included in BioShock Infinite as its hardest difficulty.
"In Burial at Sea - Episode Two we put a focus on balance and stealth mechanics," said Irrational Games creative director Ken Levine.
"As we were developing this new style of gameplay, we started to see people self-impose non-lethal playthroughs. Given the fan reception of 1999 Mode, we thought it would be cool to give them another way to play Burial at Sea that challenged their mastery of stealth tools."
In Episode Two you play as Elizabeth, not Booker. We don't have much to go on save the image above. Remind anyone of stealth game Thief: The Dark Project? Wait! That came out in 1998! And Ken Levine was one of the designers!
It all makes sense now.
Last week Levine announced he was "winding down" Irrational Games and handing over the BioShock franchise to publisher 2K Games.
