Jade Raymond making Splinter Cell 6
Production underway at Ubisoft Toronto.
Ubisoft game developer Jade Raymond is working on Splinter Cell 6 at the publisher's Toronto studio.
Confirmation comes from Raymond herself in a new promotional video quietly released yesterday.
"We're working on Splinter Cell 6, the next iteration of the blockbuster franchise, and we're doing it entirely here in Toronto."
In May Raymond said she was working on a new Splinter Cell project with the core Conviction team, but this is the first time we've heard it described as Splinter Cell 6.
In the new video Raymond reveals 83 people have been hired. Gameplay production is "going on already". There are concept artists, animators and audio directors hard at work as we speak.
"Within the next 10 years we plan to ramp up this studio to at least 800 people, and we're ahead of schedule on that," she said.
In August Raymond, who used to produce the Assassin's Creed franchise, revealed her intention to build five triple-A games at Ubisoft Toronto. Splinter Cell 6 is one of two games currently in production.
Splinter Cell 6 follows Splinter Cell: Conviction, which Simon Parkin awarded 7/10 in Eurogamer's review.
