Japan is getting an official Eevee Pokémon Tamagotchi
Fur real.
Japan gets all the good stuff. Yesterday, it was a massive box of 63 amiibo. Today, it's this - an official Eevee Tamagotchi, so you can carry the fan-favourite Pokémon around in your bum pocket.
First glimpsed online a couple of weeks ago, toymaker Bandai has now made this special Pokémon Tamagotchi official and released a handful of details - namely, that you'll be able to evolve your Eeevee into all of its varying forms.
Depending on how you raise your pixelised Eevee, you'll get one of its eight evolutions - deep breath: Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon or Sylveon.
Alternatively, you might get a Ditto Eevee, or even an Eevee dressed in a Team Rocket uniform - a detail I first saw on Serebii. Maybe this happens if you're evil to your Eevee? In which case, well, now I'm definitely going to be evil to my Eevee.
Otherwise, it looks like your Eevee will act just like any other Tamagotchi - so you'll need to feed it, care for it, and presumably shovel up its poo. Do Pokémon poo? Best not to Google that.
Eevee's starring role as a Tamagotchi comes hot on the heels of the release of Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee for Nintendo Switch, which we recommended in Eurogamer's review.
