Killzone 3

Check out these Moves.

But that's not all. "We're giving specific rewards to the players for every type of game style," he reveals. "So if you like playing Warzone, excellent. You like playing a specific mission in Warzone? Great. We'll reward you. You like playing as a specific crew inside a specific mission? There'll be rewards for that, and always something to earn."

The game's career system should keep players coming back for more. Again, the team has reworked it "from the ground up" and now offers five classes to choose from. "We have the medic, the marksmen, the infiltrator, the tactician, and the engineer, and each career has six levels. We made sure that we chose weapons that really catered to them. They have a lot of unique abilities, and there are six to unlock per career, so 30 in total."

Guerrilla is also promising the same degree of no-compromise visual fidelity will be applied to multiplayer as the single-player portion. "It's a benchmark of graphics in multiplayer," he claims. "We really didn't want to lose any quality, so what you see in single player will be translated into multiplayer," and that means 3D support as well as Move support, fact fans.

Variety is also high on the agenda: "The levels offer a great variety of gameplay experiences. We've got interior, exterior, frozen citadels, war-torn cities, nuclear craters, and like Killzone 2, each map will be sculpted for each mode."

Redeye removal.

Teamplay is also a huge focus for the team this time around. "We want you playing with your friends. Like most multiplayer games, teamplay is a recipe for success. We want you to squad up with your friends, and get used to the party system. Joining your squad is going to get you into your games quicker, and get you into the next game easier, and keep you together.

"Squadding up is going to give you some tactical advantages," he notes. "In the squad channel on your headset, you'll be able to hear your faction, and we're going to give priority specifically to your squad, and that way their voice comes in." This will also help out between rounds, he says, with players able to chat to their squad to decide on the specific loadout, for example. You'll also be able to share any perks you've earned in single-player with your squaddies. Nice touches, all.

"We've listened to our audience, and we've given them exactly what they want," Nanni says. In a business as ruthlessly competitive as online shooters, it wiill be interesting to see whether this a case of Killzone 3 playing catch-up, or whether Guerrilla can break new ground.

Killzone 3 is due out for PS3 in February 2011.
