With Kinect going on sale across Europe today amid concerns over hardware shortages, Microsoft UK boss Neil Thompson last night insisted new stock would be coming in "more or less every week".

Thompson, speaking to Eurogamer at the official London launch event, added that the company was in the process of hiring more planes to ensure units could be delivered in greater numbers.

The exec's words were backed by Xbox marketing head Stephen McGill, who said: "Our responsibility and our plan is to keep on replenishing our stock. The team are working 24/7 to build it, ship it, get it on the planes, and get it on the trucks.

"We'll have regular replenishments and we expect hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people in the UK to be having it for Christmas."

The London launch event, held in the grounds of the Natural History Museum, featured performances from boyband The Wanted and former X Factor champion Leona Lewis, with an official midnight opening held at GAME's flagship Oxford Store.
