Konami makes next-gen Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes cheaper
UPDATE: Ground Zeroes unlocks DLC for Phantom Pain.
Konami has made the next-gen versions of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes cheaper.
The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions have been reduced from £39.99 to £29.99, bringing them in line with the price of the digital versions, as well as the retail pricing for the physical editions for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The digital versions of the game for the PS3 and Xbox 360 remain at £19.99.
"With the new pricing set for Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, Konami aims to provide as many people as possible an opportunity to experience Kojima Productions' new Fox Engine and the first instalment in the two-part Metal Gear Solid 5 experience," Konami said.
"Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, the second and final part to the Metal Gear Solid 5 experience, will launch on both current and next-gen systems at a later date."
Earlier this month Ground Zeroes hit the headlines after it emerged that its campaign could be completed in less than two hours.
"Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes includes the main mission alongside five Side Ops," creator Hideo Kojima responded.
"All missions include elements such as 'Trial Records,' where players can compete against each other online. This is not a linear game like the past. GZ offers freedom of approach & play style, which we hope players will enjoy over and over again without boring [them]."
"I believe people will be satisfied with the 'Play Time' of GZ and will not stress the 'Clear Time,' which is a standard for linear games."
Meanwhile, Konami has announced that Ground Zeroes data unlocks exclusive Phantom Pain content.
Those who buy Ground Zeroes early on get exclusive DLC for use in The Phantom Pain. The DLC will only be available in the first batch of the retail version and for a limited period of time for the digital version, Konami said.
If you buy Ground Zeroes you can unlock content within the game you can carry over to The Phantom Pain. Prisoners of war and VIPs you rescue in Ground Zeroes are added to the Mother Base staff in The Phantom Pain, providing "Ground Zeroes players an early in-game advantage". Character skins also carry over.
Mother Base is introduced during the events of Ground Zeroes and plays a central role in The Phantom Pain, according to the publisher.
