Recommended | Firewall Zero Hour review - intense, team-based gunplay is a highlight for Playstation VR
Rainbow 360.
Firewall Zero Hour is, in more ways than one, a very different type of multiplayer shooter. You only need to unmute the in-game voice chat in games like PUBG and Call of Duty to understand how toxic large, online communities can be. Switch your mic on in the lobbies of a multiplayer PlayStation VR game, though, and you almost always hear people being kind to one another. It's a most welcome surprise.

Feature | Web history: a lifetime of playing Spider-Man
Thwip it up and start again.
If someone asks you to name the best Spider-Man game of all time, you don't need an uncanny, prickling spider-sense to intuit the answer. Unless the new PS4-exclusive blockbuster bash-em-up manages to set some stratospheric new benchmark - and since developers Insomniac have boldly messed with the classic costume design, they must be fairly confident - the answer will forever be 2004's Spider-Man 2.

Video | Untitled Goose game is definitely something to crow about
Press Y to honk.
Trailers are funny things - whether for a video game, a tv series or hell, even a soft drink or stair lift, they present an idealised version of a product that rarely proves equal to the slickly produced promise.

Digital Foundry | Zelda: Twilight Princess tested under official Tegra X1 emulation
What does the Nvidia Shield version tell us about prospective retro Switch releases?
Nvidia's Shield is a solid, high-end streaming micro-console with the distinction of using the same Tegra X1 silicon found in Nintendo Switch - which makes the existence of a high performance Wii emulator for the system absolutely fascinating. An official project, developed by Nvidia and Nintendo in partnership, is this an early preview at how Wii and GameCube titles could be added to the Switch library? Our first look at the emulator running Super Mario Galaxy proved compelling, but follow-up analysis on The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess tosses us a curve ball, in that it's unlike any other version of the game available on the market today. It's still emulation - but with very specific customisations that set this release apart from the pack.

Recommended | Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate review - definitive, dated but still delightful
Jaggi edge.
Did we really used to live like this? Going back to the last generation of Capcom's long-running series having spent the best part of 100 hours with all the mod cons of this year's Monster Hunter: World can be a galling experience. It's a bit like being in The 1900 House as you marvel at all the inconveniences and quirks that people used to contend with on a daily basis. Did you really have to carry multiple whetstones with you to keep your weapon sharp? Why am I having to repeat so much for multiplayer quests? And where are my beloved scoutflies?

Recommended | Two Point Hospital review - pitch perfect retread that manages to improve on a classic
Sick.
Two Point Hospital is a game that makes absolutely no bones about being a nostalgia trip for anybody who played Theme Hospital in the late 90s. I should know, since it's aimed squarely at me. When Theme Hospital launched, I was nine and my parents, a doctor and a nurse, thought it was hilarious. They were delighted by it; even now, in fact, my father occasionally refers to his work as a Consultant Parasitologist as 'doctor required in inflator room'.
