Of all the games in Platinum's back catalogue, there was perhaps no other title in need of a re-release more than Vanquish. Even now, Shinji Mikami's take on third-person shooting stands as one of the most nuanced shooters ever made but the basic hardware limits of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 prevented it from reaching its full potential. Seven years on from its original release, the new PC version of Vanquish frees the title from its technical shackles - and the result is magnificent.

Out of nowhere, I was getting attacked by a bird. A giant bird, with a sharp, bony face and huge talons. A monster that would screech down out of the sky and grab me if I spent too long in the open air. I had a problem with this bird already. Seconds ago, when we first met, this bird had stolen a large golden sphere that I was using as part of a machine that allowed me to shift the sun and moon around in the sky. Without the sphere grinding around in its neat orbital track, I could not control the heavens - and, by extension, the magical shadows the heavens cast on the magical wall of the magical castle I was visiting. Most things are either keys or locks in Rime, but why take the delight out of it? What keys! What locks!

Big business talks about diversifying its revenue streams all the time. The idea is you do new things that bring in money from non-traditional business. GAME, the bricks and mortar video game shop, has been all about this in recent years - even in recent weeks - but this latest effort is perhaps its most... ambitious attempt yet.

Deadly Premonition is so very, uniquely weird that it's hard to imagine it translating well to a board game. Like Twin Peaks, its atmosphere is too specific and too bizarre, surely, to be supported by a tabletop game (a Twin Peaks board game really was produced in the 90s, in fact - I have it on good authority from Donlan that it's utter trash).
