Feature | A Switch is for life, not just for Zelda
A rundown of the best games for Nintendo's new console that aren't Breath of the Wild.
The Switch's launch line-up, so the story goes, was lacklustre; in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Nintendo delivered a surefire hit, but elsewhere the eccentric 1 2 Switch, the charming but slight Snipperclips and the puzzlingly priced Super Bomberman R made it feel like slim pickings.

Feature | How to actually enjoy Mass Effect: Andromeda
Play it again, SAM.
There's enjoyment to be gleaned from Mass Effect: Andromeda, but in order to discover it, you might need a guide. No, not SAM, your cranially implanted AI assistant. SAM is awful - a toneless bore who doubles as a cautionary tale about leaving work notifications active on your phone, forever bleating at you to mine things, scan things, check your email, take vidcalls and spend your Andromeda Viability Points. As the vehicle for much of Mass Effect: Andromeda's more tedious content, he makes a far more convincing nemesis than the story's actual villain, who at least puts you through a few decent firefights en route to some scenery-chewing monologues about racial supremacy.

Digital Foundry | What's up with Nier: Automata on PC?
Amateurish issues mar what could have been one of Platinum's best PC games.
Widely acclaimed when it launched - receiving a Eurogamer Recommended no less - it's the PC version of Platinum Games' latest title that we'd been waiting for. Even running with the raw power of PS4 Pro, resolution is limited to 1080p, but more worryingly are the frequent glitches and stutters - especially prevalent during the game's more open areas. Our hope was that the PC version could power past these limitations - but alas, it's not to be. And on top of that, some wobbly conversion work introduces new issues, some of which we can't believe we're seeing.

Video | We used to catch Pokémon wrong
Here's A Thing.
Did you know that in Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow, it's simply not worth damaging a Pokémon below 1/3 of its HP if you intend to catch it? That'll never improve your chances of a successful catch. Or, did you know that sometimes a Great Ball can offer a marginally better chance at catching a Pokémon than an Ultra Ball? Madness. Utter madness. If you find either of those facts as interesting/upsetting as I do, then boy, do I have the video for you.

High steaks.
It's officially Spring, which is my most hated season - Spring doesn't know whether to be hot, cold, wet or dry, so it's perpetually windy while it makes up its mind. Today was one of the wet and windy days, which frankly left me feeling in need of some comfort food.
