The Day Before developer resurfaces to blame failure on "hate campaign"

"Remember the experiment where you're asked to count pink objects in a room and then recall blue ones?"

You might have thought The Day Before's sorry saga had ended last year when developer Fntastic, amid claims of misleading marketing and Overwhelmingly Negative Steam reviews, yanked the game from sale and promptly shut its doors just four days into its early access launch. But no, the studio has now reemerged with a lengthy statement blaming the whole thing on a "hate campaign" orchestrated by "certain bloggers".

  9. Enshrouded official image showing a player character holding an axe, looking over a mountainous world at golden hour.

Feature | For a survival game, Enshrouded feels too safe

    Guards, put the rails up!

From the Steam Store description alone, you can tell that there are rather a lot of ideas bouncing around inside Enshrouded. Described as a 'co-op survival action RPG', this is a game stuffed to the gills with different mechanics and systems. It boasts NPC quests, mining, crafting and farming; combat skill trees and intricate base-building - and of course, a vast open world filled with dozens of hand-crafted dungeons and castles. All of which can be explored with the help of a grapple and glider, in a way very reminiscent of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

  13. Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super review: a new 4K/1440p contender

Digital Foundry | Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super review: a new 4K/1440p contender

Extra VRAM is welcome, performance gains are variable.

Nvidia's Super refresh line of updated RTX 40-series graphics cards continues with the launch of the RTX 4070 Ti Super - an ungainly-named arrival that seeks to replace the non-Super counterpart, offering a range of upgrades: more memory bandwidth, more CUDA cores and 16GB of framebuffer memory - for the same money. On paper, the specs look good, but in reality, Nvidia needs to strike a balance here: we can't expect the card to be within striking distance of the existing RTX 4080, because the specs suggest that 4080 Super won't be much better. Push too hard on 4070 Ti Super and there'll be no market for the next Super.

  28. A tube of cream covers Ichibans private parts in a Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth screenshot.

Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth in name alone implies certain themes. Greed. Exploitation. Instability. Appropriate topics for a series (once known as Yakuza, RIP) that so often has our heroes struggle to protect innocence in Japan's criminal underbelly. But Infinite Wealth isn't just a story about excess, it embodies that overabundance with an almost untrackable number of things to see, do, and level up - easily making for the series' grandest entry yet while still (somehow!) tightening up its predecessor's sloppy first attempt at an RPG.
