The defence roosts.
Monsieur Grenwee, businessman and dinner party guest, has been murdered. The daughter of Grenwee's business partner, herself a guest at the party, was found standing over the corpse with blood on her hands. A photograph provides an alibi for every other guest at the time of the murder. It seems like a pretty open-and-shut case but you, incisive defence lawyer that you are, have your doubts. This also might be a good time to mention that the deceased is a frog, the accused is a cat and you are a falcon in a suit. Got that? Good. Now go interrogate that lion smoking a cigar.

PC's Resident Evil Zero HD remaster shows us how the original game was made
Plus, our full triple-format Face-Off.
On the face of it, the PC version of the Resident Evil Zero HD remaster offers only an incremental upgrade over its companion console releases. The full HD presentation, improved lighting and effects, upgraded character models and optional widescreen mode are joined by a new 60fps mode, plus improved anti-aliasing - but not a whole lot more. But what's fascinating about this release is the contents of its install directory: Resident Evil Zero HD on PC actually give us some idea about how the original game was put together.

Murder on the Disorient Express.
It's an ignoble death for the passengers of the Ecliptic Express as their train and, soon enough, their brains are breached by a plague of leeches. Still, there are less distinguished surroundings in which to die. Resident Evil has always presented a hotchpotch of locales in its jittery tour of Victorian mansions, small town American police stations, industrial factories and Renaissance churches. The Ecliptic Express, however, with its pre-war luxury - the feathery lampshades, the forest of mahogany, the tinkling bottles of Scotch - is new, a scene that could have been lifted from any number of Agatha Christie novels. Puking zombies aside, it's a delightful place to be.

Why Heroes of the Storm is the MOBA that you'll love or hate
Blizzard's move for accessibility is a boon for those new to the genre - but how will it go down with existing MOBA diehards?
Heroes of the Storm is a MOBA/ARTS/LMG/WHATEVER that existing MOBA/ARTS/LMG/WHATEVER fans are going to hate - and that's okay. The obvious comparison is to look at it and Dota in much the same way as Hearthstone vs. Magic: The Gathering. Actually play it though, and it quickly becomes clear that the better comparison is to see it as Super Smash Bros versus Street Fighter 2 - if only because it's going to be far easier to pick a character because they're your favourite. That's not to say there isn't scope for high level play, just that it's something to work up to rather than an immediate slap in the face.

Parallel lanes.
There are games you don't have time for, and games you make time for. Then there's the kind of game Blizzard makes, which becomes a routine. Millions of World of Warcraft players, past and present, could speak for hours of their travels in Azeroth. Starcraft players act like it's a religion. Hearthstone's disarming charm hides a monster that Daily Quests you into coy submission and devours half-hour chunks over and again.

Digital Foundry | Digital Foundry: Hands on with Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2
Lawn order.
The original Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare was something of a surprise hit, and last weekend's console beta for the sequel reveals that PopCap Games has upped the ante. Garden Warfare 2 leverages the evolved Frostbite 3 engine to produce an enhanced, even more action-packed spectacle - but the question is whether the more ambitious sequel can retain the smooth performance of its predecessor, or match the near-locked 60fps experience of stablemate Star Wars Battlefront.

Digital Foundry | Digital Foundry: Hands-on with Ark: Survival Evolved on Xbox One
It's sold over 1m copies. Is the star of Microsoft's Xbox Early Access initiative worth buying now?
Ark: Survival Evolved - in its current, preview state - is best described as something of a technological work-in-progress in its Xbox One incarnation. By every measurable criteria Digital Foundry can attach to the game, it can often border on the disastrous. And yet, even in its early access form, Studio Wildcard has managed to shift over 1m copies, building a dedicated fanbase on both console and PC. Put simply, in this preview form, it's a triumph of concept over execution. Already a 'monster' hit, gamers have invested in the title's early access status and one of its key attractions is that users feel as though they're involved in the title's ongoing development.

Feature | What does Diablo 3's new patch offer for the end-game player?
The Grift that keeps on giving.
Diablo 3 makes an art of relentlessly gouging your time, but rarely your wallet. If the Auction House had persisted it would be a different story, but Blizzard's hectic smash-and-grab has maintained its flip-reversed trajectory to become one of the most lovingly-maintained games in recent memory.
