Essential | Xenoblade Chronicles X review
Mira, Mira on the wall.
Two years ago NASA announced a plan to deliver a container filled with seeds to the moon. It will be the first in a range of experiments to test the viability of humans colonising nearby moons and planets when we're finally done ruining this one. It's a gallant goal and yet, if the seeds do take root and flower, it will take a visionary chef to cook a sustaining meal from the harvest: a fistful of herbs and clutch of turnips. As the world thaws around us, NASA's vision for a lunar garden is something of a beautiful lie, an ecological lullaby sung above deck to soothe souls while our Titanic planet tilts and glugs. Truth be told, if we have to depart terra firma in a hurry, the question of whether we have enough basil to garnish our turnips will be, you might say, of secondary concern.

Feature | What's going on in Bloodborne: The Old Hunters?
Man's inhumanity to man. The new lore explored and explained.
Hidetaka Miyazaki and From Software have an outstanding approach to narrative design, creating worlds where the systems and lore are intertwined from first principles. These are not games with simple stories, easy answers, or even good and bad - which is why fans find their heady brew of fact, myth, and suggestion so intoxicating.

Now he's created his most gargantuan battle yet with 100 Brotherhood of Steel Soldiers facing off against a wave of 30k Deathclaws storming their homebase at the Cambridge Police Station.

Review | Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros Review
Just the fax.
Crossovers are intrinsically tasty ideas. There's just something about sandwiching two popular worlds, slicing off the crust of logic, and taking a bite out of the ensuing chaos. Superman and Aliens? Awesome. Futurama and Simpsons? Fantastic! Mario and Paper Mario? Like peanut butter and chocolate, swirled together on a wholemeal bed.

Video | Watch: Ian and Martin take on Rainbow Six Siege from 4.30pm
Live and loaded.
It's been seven long years since we last had a Rainbow Six game, and the multiplayer-focussed Siege could well have been worth the wait. I've been ploughing through it across both PC and PS4, and while it's not without its problems, when it all clicks into place it's absolutely fantastic.

Feature | Watch: Chris teaches Aoife how to play XCOM: Enemy Unknown
"I don't trust anyone that wears a turtleneck."
In a previous episode of Late to the Party, Chris Bratt embarrassed himself by not being very good at Ocarina of Time, a game he'd barely played before that I can pretty much recite step by step from memory. He launched himself headfirst into a Deku Baba, got thrown around by a Skulltula, and defied the Great Deku Tree's orders at every possible opportunity - it was a disaster. So bad was he that an anonymous commenter declared that the video was ruining the game for everyone else on YouTube, but since when does anyone listen to what anonymous YouTube commenters have to say?

Digital Foundry | Digital Foundry vs Xenoblade Chronicles X
A Wii U technological masterclass?
Released earlier this year in Japan, Xenoblade Chronicles X is now set for release in the West imminently - and it's a game we've kept an eye on for a while now as its scope and sheer technological ambition exceeds expectations. When looking at open world games on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and even the Wii U itself, there are scant few that offer a truly stable frame-rate - but that's exactly what we have here. There are certainly sacrifices that had to be made to get there but the end result is nothing short of spectacular for the platform, with a sublime balance between visual ambition and overall performance.

Splosion, man.
Just Cause 3 starts as it means to go on. Following a winking credits sequence soundtracked by a crooning cover version of The Prodigy's Firestarter, you're dropped into the game standing atop a speeding plane, using a rocket launcher to take out ground targets as flak explodes all around you.
