    Footballers' drives.

If you're even slightly disappointed by the feel of the Batmobile in Arkham Knight, the X-Devil body with Almas tyres will give you all the Batmobile you could ever reasonably need. Sure, chassis and wheel types are cosmetic here, but still: what a beast! That particular visual combination is the final ingredient to a car that already hugs the ground tightly as it roars along, yet can spin on a dime and do crazy, dreamy backflips in mid-air. It barrels through enemies - they certainly feel like enemies anyway - and hits top speed in the blink of an eye. You can even customise the colour of the flames that blast from its exhaust when you reach for turbo. Oh yes, and it is pretty handy at headers and shooting from corners, too.

  14. The murky genius of Fallout: New Vegas

Fallout 3 wasn't a bad game - far from it - but its successor Fallout: New Vegas was most definitely better. This was a sequel that righted Fallout 3's few wrongs, setting players loose in a grittier, grimier, morally murkier nuclear wasteland, a world far removed from the Disneyland apocalypse of its predecessor, where the light side was zany and the dark side was only ever awful rather than crushingly bleak. New Vegas was more mature and morally challenging. It was also, depending on your personal feelings about the politics of the main factions, utterly chilling.

  15. Performance Analysis: F1 2015

    Digital Foundry | Performance Analysis: F1 2015

Initial impressions and frame-rate tests for the PS4 and Xbox One versions.

UPDATE 11/7/15 2:00pm: A closer look at F1 2015 suggests that the Xbox One version of F1 2015 is actually running at 1440x1080, not the 900p the developer has previously suggested. It's an extra eight per cent of resolution over 900p, but more importantly, it limits upscaling artefacts to the horizontal axis only, in part explaining why image quality looks better than expected. We've also revised our comments on texture filtering as the situation here is a little more complex than previously thought.

  17. Genre blending, Hinglish, and The Flame in the Flood

I'm as bored as everyone else is when it comes to the old games are like x debate. Games are like books or movies? Hmm. Games are like music? In some ways. Games are like poetry, games are like architecture - all of these connections are interesting and shed a certain light on a specific aspect of what games can be, but they aren't the whole story. How could they be? Games are like games, and the thrill of them is that no other category captures the same strange richness and blend of ideas.

    Review | F1 2015 review

    Standing start.

What a strange, unsatisfying season it's been in F1 so far this year. The high drama of last year's tête-à-tête between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg has been lost as the paddock gets caught up in self-loathing, leaving us with the frequently dismal sight of the same two cars romping around at the front while one of the sport's best drivers dawdles round at the back of the field the few times his Honda power unit is kind enough not to eat itself.

Their controller will actually work in level 11.

Beat-em-up classic Battletoads was a great game for its day, but it shipped with one killer glitch: Upon getting to its 11th stage, the second player's controller would simply cease to function. As such, Player Two would lose all their lives (though they could drop back in upon their companion reaching the following level).

  25. AMD's cut-down, air-cooled R9 Fury is a 4K contender

    Digital Foundry | AMD's cut-down, air-cooled R9 Fury is a 4K contender

Digital Foundry has initial benchmarks for the new challenger.

AMD has lifted the lid on the cheaper, cut-down, air-cooled version of its top-end R9 Fury X - and we've had a day of hands-on time with the new product. Our initial thoughts? Some of the cutbacks may look significant and the small form-factor of the top-tier product is gone, but the new non-X Fury offers an accomplished level of performance at ultra-HD resolution. On top of that, initial overclocking results paint an interesting picture of Fury performance when compared to the full-fat product.
