  18. To the Batmobile? The trouble with Arkham Knight's biggest addition

What's your favourite Batmobile? If you answered the Tumbler, the thick, bulky and brutally functional supercar/tank hybrid from Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, then I'm afraid you're just plain wrong. The Tumbler had a place within Nolan's universe, with its thudding logic dictated by the inevitable and rather joyless collision of immovable objects, but looking back through the history of Batman's garage it's an unsightly addition - a tool fit for a soldier rather than a vigilante, a guardian, a silent predator.

  19. The Taken King is the expansion Destiny has been waiting for

Mars spirals above you as your boots land on the surface of Phobos, the red planet's largest moon. But for the first time in Destiny, you and your fireteam don't feel alone. Ships of the Vanguard soar overhead, the might of the Tower behind you, their radio chatter in your ears. Down the dusty path lies chaos, a Cabal base that's being evacuated. But you aren't the danger here, and neither are the militaristic Martian conquerors. They are fleeing a threat far larger than themselves, one that The Taken King will see you slowly meet, comprehend, and then shoot in the face.

    "It's a 2D procedurally generated burglary simulator."

The Swindle is out at the end of the month, but you probably haven't seen an awful lot of the game outside of last year's announcement trailer. You might have read Christian's piece back in November, but it'd be nice to see some proper gameplay too, wouldn't it? About 20 minutes, ideally. With accompanying commentary from both the player and the developer. Yeah, that'd be smashing.

  27. Endless joy: Inside Infinifactory, the sandbox SpaceChem successor

If you're happy to think of a conveyor belt as a unit of time, you're probably going to get on okay with Infinifactory. Actually, you're probably going to love it, because, grim and dehumanised as this follow-up to SpaceChem often is, it's also a profoundly loveable game. I love the squeal of victory that erupts when a solution suddenly presents itself, of course, but I also love the protracted groan when things go wrong in an unforeseen, hilarious, and yet entirely logical, manner. Most of all, I love the fact that my initial response to the unveiling of an impossible new puzzle - and they all look impossible at first - isn't that I want to lie down in another room and maybe eat a biscuit. It's that I want to start tinkering, because tinkering will get you going here, even in lieu of an actual plan.
