Review | Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix review
An old new world.
On the face of it, Kingdom Hearts would appear to be a worthy subject for a remake. This was, after all, the unlikely crossover that spawned an enduring franchise - an action-RPG that, against the odds, managed to capture the hearts of two seemingly incompatible fanbases: Disney and Final Fantasy.

Telltale tells of its next tale: The Wolf Among Us preview
How The Walking Dead developer stays fresh with Fables.
Telltale Games has a lot to live up to. Once a niche studio content with making a small subset of gamers happy with its whimsical take on Sam & Max and Back to the Future, the small studio got thrust into the limelight after its critically acclaimed episodic take on Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead won loads of "Game of the Year" awards (including taking top honours at the VGAs, a silly, albeit widespread awards show that typically only recognises triple-A titles).

Neverending Nightmares dev releases A Mobius Proposal, the game that got him a wife
"I think more people can enjoy it than just her."
Neverending Nightmares developer Matt Gilgenbach spent four years working on his rhythm-based side-scroller Retro/Grade only for it to sell so poorly that it didn't recoup its costs. However, during that time the indie dev created a game that was far more successful. It didn't make him a penny, but it did land him a wife.

Get sett! Live from 5pm BST today.
Badgers! Once, when I was young and riding in a taxi with my mum through some countryside, we ran over a badger. Shocked by the impact (badgers make quite some noise when they travel under a black cab) we stopped, and my mum politely asked the driver to back over the badger to make sure it was properly finished off. It was probably an act of kind humanity, but I've had and remain to have my suspicions.

Review | 2K Drive review
Real racing?
So it really isn't Project Gotham Racing. When word got around that Lucid Games, a team formed from ex-Bizarre veterans, was working on a driving game, several eager fans put two and two together to get PGR5. That wasn't the case, of course: Lucid was instead working with 2K as part of the publisher's concerted push into iOS gaming, on an all-new game that's out to compete with the bountiful successes of CSR and Real Racing.

New gameplay, plus a lovely beard too.
In an industry that's not short on beards, it's rare to come across one that makes you stop in your tracks and just feel humbled - one that makes you just want to drop whatever's in your hands and run your fingers through its tangled beauty. So take a bow Zombie Studio's Jared Gerritzen, and be grateful that it wasn't me interviewing you - I'd have been all over you like a strokey beard rash.

Review | Farming Simulator review
Against the grain.
Farming Simulator isn't nearly nerdy enough, and that's the last criticism I expected to make of this console version of the ironically championed budget PC series. It's got the word "simulator" in the title - nerdiness should come as standard.

Video | Child of Light draws on Chrono Trigger, Grandia 2
Exploring the influences on Ubisoft's digital delight.
Ubisoft's got a fair few digital games bubbling along in the background, and doubtless the one that shines most brightly is Child of Light. A JRPG inspired adventure from Ubisoft Montreal, it's a delicate and quite beautiful looking game that's wowed anyone who's come into close contact - and queues to play it at a recent press event stretched on for a two hour long line.

Feature | Keiji Inafune on Mighty No. 9, Mega Man, and getting older
"There's actually tons and tons of differences between both character designs."
There's an episode of Californication where David Duchovny's writer character is asked to provide a treatment of a screenplay by rapper Samurai Apocalypse (wonderfully played by the Rza). The script in question is called Santa Monica Cop. "Oh, like Beverly Hills Cop?" the Duchovny character asks. "Nah, man. It's Santa Monica Cop!" Apocalypse deadpans. This pretty much sums up my interview with Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune about his new Kickstarter project, the recently launched retro throwback Mighty No. 9.
