Review | iPhone Roundup
Flying, shooting, hooping, praying, threading.
In honour of Rowntree's Randoms, which I'm currently struggling to overcome a soul-crushing love for, we've ditched themes for this instalment of the iPhone Roundup, in favour of a selection of games that capture the almost frightening range of the App Store. Be warned: there are some obscure genres like flying, shooting and sports in the five titles that follow, but I've also thrown in some more traditional offerings, like finger-powered heretic-smiting and at least one good ol' needle-threading sim.

Rubber bullets.
Tom writes: A lot of websites would have looked back at the last year's annual preview feature series and decided to recycle it. After all, it was a good format, provoked lots of debate and allowed us to be all aloof and pretentious and that.

Review | Army of Two: The 40th Day
Flanks a lot.
From the duck-and-cover flanking gameplay, to making co-op a pivotal part of the design, to the bullish machismo of the main characters, the original Army of Two was a clear attempt to create an all-formats rival to Gears of War. That it only partially succeeded is probably down to the problems of trying to create something distinctive within the confines of a rigid genre formula, but there was certainly a promising shooter lukring beneath the slightly wonky control map, occasionally flaky AI and endless whooping fist-bumps.

Review | IK+
Three's a crowd.
Exploding Fist or IK? Not a mishap in the perfume branding factory, but a high-kicking battle for the C64 fighting crown. With both games released within the space of a few months, predictable arguments raged as to which was better. System 3's IK sequel silenced these disputes, squeezing a third fighter on-screen and including a bonus section based around the ancient art of wielding a dustbin lid. Debate over.

Review | Heroes Of Might & Magic IV
Review - two steps forwards, one step back for the turn-based strategy series
The Heroes Of Might & Magic series has always been something of a triumph of gameplay over graphics, with an addictive combination of role-playing and strategy elements overcoming the antiquated visuals. With Heroes IV the franchise has had something of a make-over, sporting updates to both graphics and gameplay, but sadly the changes aren't always for the best.

Interview | Supreme Commander 2
Experimentally unexperimental.
Supreme Commander is a fearsome beast of an RTS: utterly bewildering to anyone who isn't a long-term veteran of the PC's most mainstay genre, but profoundly satisfying to those who have always sworn by base-building. With Supreme Commander 2, Gas Powered Games wants to bring everyone in from the cold instead, as you can read in last week's Supreme Commander 2 preview.
