Interview | Splash Damage's Paul Wedgwood
On the Brink.
In Brink, Splash Damage and Bethesda may have one of the most ambitious games of 2010: a first-person shooter that blends single- and multi-player on a fundamental level, which is also sufficiently accessible that a complete novice can go toe to toe with a veteran and both still enjoy themselves. Following his Developer Session at the Eurogamer Expo 2009 last month, we cornered studio boss Paul Wedgwood to see how it's getting on.

Review | Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines
Moving targets.
If there is one area in which Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines exceeds expectations, it is in the volume of chickens stalking Cyprus in the Middle Ages. They are everywhere. In the streets, in the marketplaces, in the churchyards - they're even on the rooftops. You can't free-run more than a few metres without encountering a chicken.

Review | We Sing
We get drunk first.
With the SingStar and Lips series now firmly established, it's about time the Wii joined the karaoke party. The Boogie titles don't count as they were a) rubbish and b) designed for small children. As everyone knows, videogames aren't for kids - they're for sophisticated adults who are mature enough to understand the artistic value in blowing up a Nazi's face.

Review | Divinity II: Ego Draconis
I put on my robe and lizard's hat.
Seeing as it's coming out in the same month as BioWare's recent dragon-themed RPG, and was produced with a fraction of the development time and budget, there was always going to be a scaly, fire-breathing elephant in the room when it came to Divinity II. It's not really a direct competitor - being an action-based, lone hero take on the fantasy canon as opposed to Dragon Age's tactical party management - but CDV's slant on Wyrm-hunting still sits firmly in the PR shadow of EA's game.

Review | LEGO Rock Band
Block party.
This isn't the first family-friendly reskin of a popular rhythm-action game we've seen this month. Band Hero gave Guitar Hero 5 a glittery pink-and-purple makeover and a soundtrack of cheerily meaningless pop in a rather-too-calculated approach to broadening the plastic-instrument market to women and families. The new look was cynical, yes, but what really let it down was a tracklist that was in no way suited to Guitar Hero's gameplay or instruments. Nobody wants to play along to the keyboard in a Spice Girls track on a plastic guitar.
