Our first look at Treyarch's stunning WW2 title.
We might occasionally bemoan the incessant glut of World War II games, but Gott im Himmel, they sell. In fact, Activision shifts so many of the blessed things every year that it has two developers working on the Call of Duty franchise at all times. So while Infinity Ward (no doubt) beavers away on its next PC-related project, Treyarch is conjuring Call of Duty 3 for all the various console platforms, including Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2 and even the dear old Xbox.

Review | Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires
Oh, do keep up!
Some things are to be expected; there won't be any milk in the fridge on Sunday morning - or if there is it'll have gone off. Other things are predictable; go to the pub without a coat and by last orders it'll be pissing down outside. Then there are certainties; every few months, the Koei sausage machine will crimp off another game featuring massed battles fought by ancient oriental warriors - each new release completely indistinguishable from the last to the casual bystander. Review | The Bible Game
Good Heavens?
So, this is how it works: Get the token Christian to review the Bible-based game. Snigger. But it's not as dumb an idea as it might sound. In my experience none are more furious or offended by the wretched extreme-right Christian 'games' that are put out more as propaganda than entertainment, than the god-botherers. Firmly establishing the 'mental' in 'fundamental', these releases are so often pathetic attempts to mimic the secular world but with grossly out-of-context Biblical notions of purity. Good times, eh? Happily, The Bible Game is a rare exception not falling into this category, and while overtly aimed at Christians, it's somehow a light-hearted and reasonably well-constructed PS2 party game.

Interview | Joint Task Force
Talking war with the creators of Vivendi's new RTS.
Vincent Van Diemen, the producer of forthcoming RTS Joint Task Force, is a man who likes to ask questions. Some of these questions relate to big, important, global issues, such as what really causes wars, where they're really fought and what role the media plays in it all. Others are of a rather less important nature - such as why, more than three years after its release, people are STILL playing Command & Conquer Generals. But the question that appears to be pressing most on Van Diemen's mind right now, as you might expect, is whether or not people are going to like his new game.
