Interview | Richard Garriott talks Tabula Rasa
News on how it's progressing and the E3 demo.
As you've probably spotted, we've got a brand new Tabula Rasa trailer up on Eurogamer TV at the moment, giving you an idea of what to expect from NCsoft's latest MMORPG. Not content with that, we've also got hold of a quick Q&A with Destination Games head and Ultima legend Richard Garriott. We didn't get to ask the questions, sadly, but nevertheless it's an interesting update - giving you an idea of what's changed since last year's build, how the game compares to rival MMOs, and what we can expect to see in this year's E3 demo.

Review | Evolution GT
GT-Argh.
It must be tough to be a racing game. Of course I've never been burdened with being a racing game myself, but I do rather suspect that there would be two things I'd be concerned with were I to be so magically transformed.

Review | Ice Age 2: The Meltdown
Here we go gathering nuts dismayed.
Oh, it's a shame to see what Hollywood's doing to CG-animated movies these days. Back when Toy Story was released, it was a fresh, innovative and exciting genre of infinite possibilities. Today: a formulaic rehashing of the same wacky group of anthropomorphic characters wise-cracking the same tawdry jokes with a moderately serviceable wink to the grown-ups, and transparent parodies of modern-day culture. All tied up in some high-concept plot that tediously echoes the previous one on the production line. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Review | 2006 FIFA World Cup
The road to redemption.
The Road to the World Cup was as rocky as it's ever been for EA. After some appalling defending and ill-advised tactics, the critics were sharpened their knives in readiness as another blunderous effort went wide. "2/10!" howled an exasperated Bramwell. "Dreadful...a terrible disservice to things that merely inspire dread," he fumed. Even the more generous, forgiving critics and diehard FIFA fans were less than polite in their assessment of EA's first next gen footy title. When even this lot mumble "I'd have given it a 6, personally," you know something's up.

The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar
World of Warg-craft.
There are many reasons to hate Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movies. There's the dwarf-tossing. Alone, that's unforgivable. There are the myriad, meaningless plot changes. They're far too numerous to mention. But worst, worse than even randomly altering the flow of Tolkien's epic, is the omission of Tom Bombadil and Goldberry. For that, Jackson, you go to Hell.

Review | WinBack 2: Project Poseidon
Not going to 'WinBack' any respect.
As we all know, Nintendo is hoping to revolutionise gaming later this year with a new form of control input. It may be just what we need really. Because game developers are never, ever going to give us fully configurable controls.

Pre-E3: Retro evolved.
The scariest thing about Ghosts 'n Goblins isn't spooky graveyards, or things rising from the ground arms outstretched. Nor is it the fact that the game's renowned for being one of the most challenging platformers of all time. It's the fact that it's now over TWENTY years since we first played it. Crumbs, blimey and indeed 'zoiks' that makes us feel old.

Pre E3: This year's E3 demo explored.
In my head, Capcom's divided into two parts these days. The first part makes all the obvious stuff - Resident Evil, Onimusha, Devil May Cry, and all the other breadwinners. The second part basically takes drugs all the time and occasionally does a game about a schizophrenic assassin who has sex with nurses, or a wolf who is actually a god and uses a paintbrush to cut people in half in heaven in between listening to a garrulous flea ramble on about mice with swords.

Pre-E3: Extreme conditioning.
The atmosphere is thick with sweat and probably tears. Improbably dressed men and women lunge menacingly at you from every direction, ducking into freshly wrought trenches as you prowl amongst them, a giant pack strapped to your back and bloodlust in your eyes - all the while you're conscious that if you don't hurry, you'll run out of energy and it'll all be over. Time's against you, and you're just ONE MAN against an ARMY OF SIN.
