Namco and Capcom collaborating on PS2 strat-RPG
Loads of familiar faces from Namco and Capcom titles find their way into Namco x Capcom. Shots and such inside.
Japanese mag Famitsu has revealed details of a new collaborative PS2 project between Namco and Capcom called, strikingly enough, Namco x Capcom. Developed by Monolith Soft (not the F.E.A.R developer, mind, but the chaps behind Xenosaga and Baten Kaitos), it's a near-future strategy-RPG which sees a whole host of characters from both companies' vast back catalogues infused into a new story thanks to some dimension-tearing plot device called "Yurigi".

Need For Speed Underground 2 DS details
EA's chart-topping racer should be available for the DS from mid-March in the States - and features four-player wireless racing.
EA has revealed certain details about the Nintendo DS version of Need For Speed Underground 2, which is due for release in the USA on 21st March. At the time of writing, its big brother on PC and consoles currently rides high at the top of the UK charts despite proving divisive amongst critics.

Bundle featuring Mario 64 DS and game demos will cost £129.99 plus 1,000 Stars. Then again, it is literally the only physical object in the entire catalogue...
The Nintendo DS is due out in Europe on 11th March, but if you're really keen to get hold of one now and happen to have 1,000 or more Stars on Nintendo's website and £130 going spare, you can get your hands on a "Limited VIP Pak" ahead of time. As long as you're quick.

Konami signs Death, Jr. for PSP
The first PSP game we ever saw finally finds a friend.
Konami will distribute Death, Jr. from Digital Eclipse offshoot Backbone Entertainment, the first PlayStation Portable game ever seen in public, across the USA this spring. Apparently the deal is actually six months old, but Konami has managed to avoid telling anybody about it for all this time.

Konami trails Dragon Booster and Lost in Blue
Two new DS titles to sit alongside Castlevania DS on Konami's schedule for 2005 - a "fast paced third-person racing/action/combat game" and a desert island RPG.
Although we've yet to see all that much of Castlevania DS, Konami did use its Gamers' Day event in the US this week to unveil a pair of other Nintendo DS projects called Dragon Booster and Lost in Blue.

Konami has used its annual "Gamers' Day" event in the States this week to announce a knife-bearer's handful of new titles for various platforms, and amongst them was another title derived from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise.

Ubi to publish Bomberman DS, Bomberman Hardball
DS title will be released in Europe this summer, while Hardball (featuring baseball, golf and tennis games, apparently) is due this spring.
Ubisoft is set to publish and distribute Bomberman DS for the Nintendo DS and Bomberman Hardball for the PlayStation 2 throughout Europe, having signed an exclusive deal with developer Hudson Soft.

Ubisoft to adapt Sony's first animated films
Open Season and Surf's Up due out in September 2006 and summer 2007 respectively.
Ubisoft is set to make games out of Sony Pictures' first attempts at feature-length animated films as part of a long-term collaboration deal with Sony Pictures Animation, the French publisher revealed this week.

EA confirms Fight Night Round 2 unlockables
As reported here (fnar), Super Punch-Out!! will be in the Cube version, and you'll also be able to play as Little Mac in Fight Night Round 2 itself.
EA and Nintendo have confirmed our report from earlier this month that they plan to beef up Fight Night Round 2 on GameCube by including an unlockable version of SNES classic Super Punch-Out!!

Battlefield 2 delayed, EA captures DICE control-point

Battlefield 2 will be released between April and June in Electronic Arts' first financial quarter rather than in March as had been anticipated, the publisher admitted this week, as it reported uncharacteristically normal results that realistically still ought to leave its accountants' knees trembling like ravaged peasant girls lying on a bed of roses.
