Duke Nukem Forever will not use Doom III tech
"They are using the Doom III technology," Take-Two's Rich Roedel told investors. "We are not using the Doom III engine for Duke Nukem Forever," said George Broussard, before having a pop at the press.
3D Realms boss George Broussard has responded sarcastically to suggestions that Duke Nukem Forever will make use of the Doom III engine, after Take-Two CEO Rich Roedel mistakenly said as much in a financial conference call yesterday.

SEGA working on PS2/Xbox Monkey Ball title

SEGA is "definitely" working on a PS2 and Xbox Monkey Ball title, retail sources told Eurogamer today, and should be able confirm its existence in the near future. A SEGA Europe spokesman declined to comment on the story this morning.

(Sometimes updated throughout the day.) Halo patched to 1.05, Killer 7 delayed in Japan, Atari releasing 85-strong vintage games pack for PS2/Xbox.
Microsoft has released a version 1.05 "Hotfix" (patch) for the PC version of Halo, addressing "a rare crash bug that could occur if a malicious individual (hacker) purposely sends a malformed packet to a game server". Furthermore, "it incorporates fixes to resolve compatibility problems with Windows XP SP2 and certain 256MB video cards, which could cause the game not to launch, or not to display chat messages". The Doom III demo should be "coming in a few days" according to id Software programmer Robert Duffy. It's just "finishing the last stages of QA" at the moment. In a recent .plan update, Duffy also spoke of the contents of the demo: "It contains three levels of the game and is single-player only," he wrote.

Konami confirms PES4 Xbox Live support

Konami has officially confirmed that Pro Evolution Soccer 4 will be fully playable over Xbox Live, bringing to end months of speculation and confirming reports carried by this site over the past week based on comments from highly placed Konami insiders, and has revealed that the Xbox version will be released in November along with the PC version. The PS2 version will be released in mid-October.

Xbox Video Chat gets Japanese date, price
Up to five people will soon be able to come together and talk to each other via Microsoft's videophone-style software. Amongst other things.
Microsoft has pinned down a Japanese release date for its EyeToy-ish Xbox Video Chat package, featuring headset and camera, which allows up to five people to connect up and engage in videophone-style conference conversations over Xbox Live.

The ongoing Tribes: Vengeance beta test has now been opened up to everybody who's interested in it. All you have to do to get involved is surf on over to FilePlanet and scribble down some details to get your hands on a key and a copy of the 480MB executable. You can also find the system requirements and all the rest over there, which aren't as hefty as perhaps you might expect.
