I spotted a tasty tidbit over at the Shack, apparently Don "onethumb" MacAskill has gotten a new game company, Orcus Technologies off the ground. Their first project haven't been announced yet but they plan on doing an online game. They got a bunch of job openings for you really talented guys out there so check out their jobs page.

The Q3 Fortress website have been updated with a small "server side only" patch that fixes stability issues many servers have been seeing over the last few days. Please note that this is not a client update so don't download this unless you're running a server. Download the patch from their files section and if you haven't downloaded this mod yet then I strongly suggest that you do so, because it rocks.

Christian "Disruptor" Antkow, level designer over at id Software made a short update to his .plan file today with his take on the recently released Quake III Fortress mod, which have received some great feedback. Be sure to check out our old news story about this mod for downloading location and other interesting stuff as well.

The lucky chaps over at Incite have gotten their hands on some spicy details on the upcoming Blair Witch: Episode 3 game, which is being developed by Ritual Entertainment. As an extra bonus they got a few screenshots of the game up, remember that the game is still in very early development so there's not a lot to see. To sort out any confusion here, there are three Blair Witch games in development and the other two are being developed by TRI (Nocturne) and Human Head Studios (Rune).

I noticed over at VE that the official website for Black Isle Studios' upcoming RPG, Icewind Dale have been updated. It's no major update, more like a development update on the game which is still on track for an early summer release. Be sure to check out the screenshots and the concept art over at the official website too, you can't afford to miss them.

Press releases, eh? A lot of hot air and technical wordplay, but in this case at least, the message is very clear; Microsoft is creating a computer gaming console entitled X-Box. That could mean anything though, the truth is very hard to fathom. As you can see, the teaser screenshots dotted around this article do little to help you, but Microsoft have already erected a small website at XBox.com to display the machine's specifications, along with these shots, so maybe those will help...

The recently opened Thief News has posted an interview with Steve Pearsall, Thief 2's project leader. The interview covers the game's completion, and where the series is likely to go in future. Can you say multiplayer?

Our coverage of the debut EuroLAN event which we ran in Brighton last weekend is now online, with match coverage of the Quake 3 CTF, duel and two-on-two finals, an event wrap-up, and several photos from the party. Several top British Quakers were at the event, including the Razer-CPL UK qualifier winner "Blokey". For the full skinny on how they all did, read "Brighton? Rock!" now!

Eidos fired us a press release to let us know that they will be publishing an historical real time strategy game set in Asia, "Three Kingdoms : Fate of the Dragon". The game is based on a 14th century Chinese novel of the same name apparently, and being developed by a company based in Beijing! For the full scoop, check the press release.

EuroLAN got off to a flying start in Brighton this weekend with a 75 player LAN party, featuring Quake 3 CTF, duel, and two-on-two competitions, and live DJs to drown out the screams of the dying...

The chaps at VE have put up a short Q&A with Juan Pancho Eekles, lead level designer on Digital Extreme's upcoming game -- Dark Sector. Juan talks about Dark Sector's development process which is coming along very nicely, he also reveals that we won't see any Dark Sector screenshots for another two or three months.

The first beta of the much anticipated Quake III: Arena teamplay mod, Q3 Fortress has finally been released for the public. This beta release weighs in at 35 megs, head on over to their files page for a complete list of FTP mirrors. Remember that you'll need the Quake 3 Point Release Version 1.16n for both Clients and Servers running Q3F.

The German tribes fan-site, Starsiege-Tribes.de have gotten their hands on a brand new movie (10 Mb) from Dynamix' upcoming (and anticipated) first-person shooter, Tribes 2. This movie is apparently quite nice so you should grab it immediately and don't worry, the video is genuine and no April fools' joke.

I spotted over at VE that ATI has released a set of new Windows 2000 drivers for their Rage 128/128 Pro, All-In-Wonder 128, and All-In-Wonder 128 Pro which can be downloaded here. They have also released a beta Multimedia Center for Windows 2000 which you can download here.

Seems like we missed this one yesterday, but 3D Files have put up the demo for Lucas Arts latest RTS-game, Star Wars: Force Commander which have received some really crappy reviews lately. This demo weighs in at 79 megs but I suggest that you try this demo before you purchase the game.

John Bergerud informed me that GA-Strategy have conducted a short interview with Martin Walfisz, of Massive Entertainment - the developers of the much anticipated strategy game, Ground Control. Gaile from over at DiabloII.net has let us know that they have created a storyboad - overview, analysis, explanation - with story content, images, and full narration of the new Diablo II movie released yesterday, entitled "The Calling" (story).

Jason Hall, CEO at Monolith updated his .plan stating that they have released all the LithTech GDC Demo Stuff they displayed. As a bonus they have also released five new LithTech PS2 screenshots of the GDC PC demo in action, you can grab it all from their website.
