Rebel Act Studios, the company behind third person action game Blade, is looking for a lead programmer for a new project they are working on. You'll need to be fairly fluent in Spanish as well as C though, as the company is based in Spain. For the full details, check this notice.

According to this story over on The Register, Intel's recently announced 1GHz Pentium III processor are still in very limited supply, and they are "initially working with customers that can provide the biggest impact in the consumer enthusiast segment at launch". What does this mean in practice? You won't see a boxed P3-1GHz in the shops until some time this summer ("third quarter" in marketing speak), and most system builders won't get any until then either!

So says tonight's episode of current affairs program "Dispatches" on Channel 4 here in the UK. Airing at 9pm, the program will cover video game violence, and apparently suggests that we're a bunch of homicidal maniacs. Should be interesting viewing...

The most violent game ever, with out blood? According to a news blurb over at Avault a bloodless edition of this extremely violent game will be released by Activision soon. So expect two versions on the shelves, one regular (with all the blood and gore) and the "tactical" version (with no violence at all).

's own Aussie, Tim Culbert informed me that Magnus from Starbreeze Studios, makers of the upcoming FPS Enclave, has dropped him a note with news that they've entered into a marketing agreement with Octagon Entertainment. Starbreeze Studios have entered into an international marketing agreement with Octagon Entertainment. Octagon Entertainment, in conjuncion with Starbreeze, is now looking for publishers for Enclave. Enclave is a next-generation first-person shooter for the PC. The title is due for release Q3 2001.

Ice Age is the third game of the Carnivores series, and like its predecessors it is a futuristic hunting simulation. In this exclusive interview, developer Action Forms tells GA-Source about its plans for twenty-first century dino-hunting on the PC and there's even five brand new screenshots included.

First up, id Software's resident Brit, Graeme Devine, has updated his .plan with word of a .. um .. plan he has to start up a "skunk works" at id Software where upcoming developers can learn the arcane art of game design.

A new version of the Quake 2 mod SOG is now available, including improvements to the code, menu graphics and maps, as well as one all-new level, a new imp, new textures and skies, more sounds, and the proverbial much much more.

Our friends over at Swedish developer Massive Entertainment have just sent us a pair of brand new Ground Control screenshots.

Nicholas 'Cece' Cederstrom producer over at Insomnia Software, the developers of the upcoming shooter with attitude, Decay has let me know that due to trademark issues they are not allowed to use the name Insomnia Software in the United States. That's why they ask the public to help them find a new name for the company, so if you have a great name idea for a computer game developer do not hesitate to send it to name@insomniasoftware.com.

Epic have confirmed that they are now licensed "middleware" providers for the Playstation 2, and that they will be demonstrating their Unreal engine running on the console at a Sony developer's conference later this week. For the full scoop, read the press release!

I spotted over at the Shack that Daily Radar have kicked up a brand new feature dealing with Unreal Tournament level editing. This first installment is more related to level editing in general and it features some tips from well-known level designer's (Cliffy B, T. Elliot Cannon, Tim Willits etc etc).

We just got the official press release through from Empire Interactive confirming that they will be publishing The Longest Journey in the UK.

Brandon Reinhart, programmer over at Epic Games updated his .plan talking a bit about Zero Ping, a program that reduces your ping. Up today on EuroGamer is the third volume of The Dereth Diary, our off-the-wall look at life in the world of Asheron's Call. This week Gestalt takes an ill-advised hunting trip in the woods, discovers a rodent conspiracy, and is attacked by rollerblading banderlings.

Gestalt took a dangerous journey to the player killer server of Darktide. But having racked up an enviable vitae penalty in this hostile place, Gestalt soon decided it was time again to return to more green and pleasant lands.

SwissQuake has relaunched, sporting a very snazzy new design and a player stats page listing the performance of players on some of their Swiss Quake 3 servers.

And now for something completely different... No 3D acceleration, no tri-linearly filtered environmental bump-mapping, and the only killing you do is of the "making a" variety.

I said in my review of Quake 3 that some of the levels felt like they belonged in a platform game, so perhaps it's no surprise that there is now a Mario Quake 3 CTF level. Hellhound have slapped up a review of the map, which comes complete with giant mushrooms and blocks that give out weapons when you bang your head on them. Spooky...

What? No 3D accelerated graphics? No Dolby Digital surround sound? No texture mapped polygons or volumetric fog effects?

The longest journey of all is now over, as Empire Interactive have announced that they will be publishing the highly anticipated adventure game The Longest Journey here in the UK. The game has already been released in several European countries, but we were still waiting for an English language release over here... Hopefully it won't be long now.

Yes boys and girls, I checked, and it isn't April Fool's Day yet. So it looks like this story over at the Adrenaline Vault just might be true. Apparently John Romero's long overdue first person shooter, Daikatana, is finally done. A sign of the impending apocalypse?
