I spotted over at VE that Computer Artworks have finally released the demo for their anticipated action/adventure game, Evolva which should be out soon. The demo is available in two flavors, full demo w/movies (130 Mb) or the demo without movies (30 Mb). While you're at it, be sure to check out our preview of this undeniably cool game. Update : Apparently, there's something wrong with the 30 Mb version so I suggest you grab the big file.

I noticed over at the Shack that the rumored Quake III expansion pack have now been officially announced by Paul Steed at the Game Developers Conference. There are no specific details yet, such as what the expansion pack will contain etc, but Gamespy.com have gotten their hands on a few pictures of one of Paul Steed's model's. Stay tuned for more details on this expansion pack.

Eric Biessman, "Prime Minister" of Raven, has updated his .plan with a reminder that the company behind games like Soldier of Fortune and Heretic II is still looking for level designers experienced with designing maps for Quake-engine games.

Brandon Reinhart has updated his .plan with some information about what Epic will be up to at the Game Developers Conference this weekend. The list of things they will be showing off there includes their new terrain system, skeletal animation, the Playstation 2 port of the engine, and the new UnrealEd being developed by Warren Marshall over at Legend.

Ok, so Daikatana might have been in development for slightly longer, but the second installment of the eagerly awaited Doom II mega-wad The Darkening is right up there with it. Featuring a dozen single player levels and a dozen deathmatch maps by some of the best Doom mappers around, and 600 (count 'em!) new textures by pixel pusher extraordinaire Ola Bjorling, this is well worth a look if you're a Doom fan.

Noticed an extremly interesting news blurb over at CGO regarding the upcoming turn-based strategy Star Trek online game from Activision and Genetic Anomalies, the game will be called Star Trek: ConQuest Online and it is scheduled for a release this spring. Check out the entire blurb at CGO

Cliffe updated the Counter-Strike website today with an official release date for the upcoming beta 6 version, which will be out this Friday. They will also be holding an IRC release party called Spamfest III in their IRC channel #counterstrike on Gamesnet at 7pm EST, many Counter-Strike team members will participate in this event too, so be sure to check it out.

TegSkywalker informed me that the Team Assault Quake 3 mod page (a team oriented mod for Quake 3 that captures the feel and stays true to Quakeworld Team Fortress.) have been updated with new screenshots of the finished Flamethrower, Single shotgun, and the engineer's Railgun. They are also having a map contest where you can show them your TF style map, and if it gets accepted, they will include it as part of the mod. For more details, contact Jayle.
