Not being in the games industry, he took a demo to the Game Developers Conference where he managed to catch the attention of a publisher, and the rest, as they say, is history. Nox chronicles the exploits of a humble mechanic in living in Florida, who is mysteriously transported to a strange fantasy world filled with monsters, magic and mayhem. Upon his arrival there, he finds he must learn the ways of a Warrior, Wizard or Conjuror in order to battle sundry enemies and to defeat the wicked Hecubah. Only then can he hope to secure his return.

Dungeon crawling RPG previewed
The last few years have seen a resurgence of the computer role-playing game after almost a decade spent wandering in the wilderness. One of the games that led this revival was 1998's "Baldur's Gate", a traditional isometric RPG based on the 2nd Edition AD&D rules and set in the Forgotten Realms, a world familiar to many role-players from "back in the day".

More bad news in the aftermath of the recent closure of Looking Glass Studios, this time for our friends across the Channel. Gamespot has posted an interview with Nick Court, producer on the upcoming, eagerly awaited, Grand Prix 3. GP3 is designed by the acclaimed Geoff Crammond, who's previous game Grand Prix 2 sold over 1 million copies world wide. In the interview Nick talks about what they have done so that the game represents accurately the thrill of formula 1 motor racing.

Our UK release date list has been updated again, with all the latest release information from Take 2. Flying Heroes and Martian Gothic are now both due for release on Wednesday May 31st, with Lemmings Revolution due at the end of June. Notable releases from Take 2 later in the year include "Heavy Metal FAKK2" and the first of the "Blair Witch Project" games in September, and "KISS : Psycho Circus" towards the end of July.

In Devil Inside you take the role of Dave and his alter-ego, the leather-clad demoness Deva, as they hunt down zombies live on TV through a series of haunted houses and other spooky settings. Ion Storm's much delayed first person shooter might (finally) be available in the USA, but that hasn't stopped the UK release date for Daikatana from slipping yet again! According to the latest information from Eidos, Daikatana will now appear on shop shelves in the UK on June 16th. Meanwhile Eidos' Formula One racing title, F1 World Grand Prix, is now due for release on June 9th.

If there is one aspect of your computer setup that you really take for granted, it is the mouse mat. If you're anything like me, you will have accumulated about a hundred of these little cloth or plastic-manufactured "disposables", each with a shelf value of about 2 quid. Personally, ever since I moved over to the Intellimouse Explorer I've just used a wooden desktop and it has been fine. I wasn't particularly concerned about the pad beneath my rodent.

According to a press release we have received from 3dfx, the under-powered entry level Voodoo 4 4500 will cost just shy of £150, while 3dfx's new flagship product, the Voodoo 5 5500, will cost £250. That makes it more expensive than some GeForce 2 GTS based cards in the UK!

are reporting that Looking Glass Studios has closed down. According to the report, "a source at the studio indicated the company is in dire financial straights", and that a proposed deal with publisher Eidos may have fallen through due to Eidos' own current financial difficulties.
