Our friends at Cryo Interactive sent us word that they will now be publishing Test Drive 6. Originally the Test Drive series was developed and published by Accolade, who were taken over by Infogrames last year. It looks like Infogrames have now decided to off-load the long running driving game series though... Cryo are promising to have the game ready for release in May 2000.

Epic Games today announced that its Unreal Tournament game engine is being licensed by Gold Creek Technology, L.L.C. for its upcoming Second Genesis role-playing game. The game, which is being developed by Gold Creek Technology's creative business unit Alternate State Entertainment, will be released in fall of 2001. Cliffe from the Counter-Strike team made a lengthy update to the official page regarding beta six of their extremely popular Half-Life mod, Counter-Strike. In the beta six release we can expect two completely new gameplay modes, they are, "Assasination" and "Escape", I'll let Cliffe fill you in on the details about these two modes. They are in need of high quality maps for these two new gameplay modes, so if you have any mapping skills at all then I suggest that you start designing those Counter-Strike maps. The lucky chaps over at Square Gamer have received some juicy details about SquareSoft's upcoming project, if you thought the praised Final Fantasy series would die after Final Fantasy VIII, then you're wrong. Squaresoft have announced three more games in the Final Fantasy series that will make their appearance for Sony's Playstation (both PSX1 and PSX2), they are, IX, X and XI. Final Fantasy IX will be released summer 2000 in Japan, and will be available for the Playstation (you'll still be able to play it on your Playstation 2 though, as that console will be backwards compatible). The other two Final Fantasy games will only be available for the Playstation 2, Final Fantasy X will give players the option of playing a single-player game or an online game while Final Fantasy XI will be an online only title.

Mike Dussault, programmer over at Monolith has updated his .plan with some information about Monolith's LithTech 2 engine, he talks about new LithTech 2 features, Third Law Interactive, DirectX 7 (which is now in the engine) and there's even a little blurb about skeletal animation.
