  5. Elden Ring character rides Torrent into a misty forest in Shadow of the Erdtree

I really do love Shadow of the Erdtree. I love its varied, spectacular environments. I love how its dungeons are more convincingly integrated into the world design, the map as a whole a puzzle to solve. I love the visual style, how emerging into each area is framed like a renaissance painting of a post-battle autumnal dreamscape.

Down in central Brighton, where the city meets the sea, and resting under the latticed shadow of a burned-out hotel, there's a traffic crossing where someone has stuck a set of plastic googly eyes on one of the green men. I don't know how long these things last, but if you're around in the next few days you can probably still see it. I noticed it because I was out with my daughter and she always notices these things: a green man who stared back at us while we waited to cross the road with the rest of the human throng.

On a broad level, the message is accurate but based on the quality of service, things need to change significantly before we can endorse that idea, whether you're experiencing Xbox on PC or via the cloud.

Feature | EverQuest provided so much pain but I still love it

    Anyone for a corpse run?

In the last few days, I've gone from struggling my way through Elden Ring to mourning a youth that feels ever distant. And it's all thanks to a forgotten username and a closed-down email account. That doesn't sound very exciting, does it? Let's go back a bit. The simple truth is this: Elden Ring reminds me a lot of my teenage years playing EverQuest.
