Red Dead Redemption 2's PC launch had a rocky start yesterday, with seemingly large numbers of players unable to launch the game at all. On both Reddit and Twitter, complaints have stacked up over an issue where clicking on "play" results in the error "Red Dead Redemption 2 exited unexpectedly" - not great for players just wanting to get their cowboy (or girl) on.

Feature | Everything we learned about Overwatch 2 at this year's BlizzCon

Story missions, character talents, Overwatch 1 compatibility, hands-on and more.

I'm excited by the Story Missions in Overwatch 2 and encouraged by what I played at BlizzCon 2019. Finally Blizzard can push the Overwatch story forward and not just flesh out backstory - and it can do it in the actual game. What's more, there will finally be a meaningful, non-temporary, non-competitive side to the game. We've had a sniff of what Blizzard can with the Archives PvE events, but Overwatch 2 takes PvE to the next level.

And Street Fighter's defined his life - having fallen in love with Final Fight, Ono made a beeline for Capcom and found himself working there soon after Street Fighter 2's release and through the series' glory years. 14. What should we expect from Death Stranding on PC?

Digital Foundry | What should we expect from Death Stranding on PC?

    And how about PlayStation 5?

The first phase of the Death Stranding embargo has passed, reviews are out and we have some measure of the game, but the announcement of a PC version coming in the summer of 2020 has left us somewhat baffled. For starters, there's the timing - the news was announced prior to the release of the PlayStation 4 game, which makes little sense. Then there's the fact that 505 Games will be publishing, while the extent of its participation in the project remains unknown. But dwarfing that is the fact that Death Stranding is effectively a collaboration between Kojima Productions and Guerrilla Games - meaning that around 70 first-party Sony staff are contributing to a PC release, one way or another.

  15. Fortnite's Halloween raid boss mode was like a little taste of Destiny

I wish I still had time to raid in Destiny. There was a period where I played little else, night after night, wrapped up in the adventures of Eurogamer's Des Tiny OMG clan. One day I realised my PS4's disc eject button had stopped working and called up PlayStation's support line. How long had it been faulty, they asked? No idea, I said, I hadn't tried to take Destiny's disc out since the previous year.

  19. Eight years after release, Dark Souls modders figure out how to make custom maps

It might be surprising, but until this point it's been pretty much impossible to import a custom map into the original Dark Souls. According to Souls modders, the closest you could get was importing maps from Demon's Souls - and while modders have worked on custom maps for some time, problems with the specific file format used for collision detection in Dark Souls 1 meant that progress was stalled.

  23. Blizzard won't repeal Hong Kong Hearthstone player suspension

Blizzard won't repeal Hong Kong Hearthstone player suspension

Or the six-month bans on two Taiwanese casters.

In its opening address to BlizzCon attendees on Friday, Blizzard finally gave an apology (of sorts) for its handling of the Hong Kong Hearthstone player controversy - but despite pledging to back up its words with actions, many fans expressed disappointment the company hadn't explained exactly what these would be. In particular, there was no word on whether pro-Hong Kong Hearthstone player Chung "Blitzchung" Ng Wai's suspension would be further reduced or repealed, or whether the two Taiwanese casters would have their own six-month bans overturned.

  26. Death Stranding review: a baffling, haunting, grand folly

Small wonder that Sony moved to snap up console-exclusive rights to Hideo Kojima's first game after his acrimonious split with Konami. Kojima and PlayStation have a close relationship that dates back to Metal Gear Solid's debut in 1998. Beyond that, Sony's commissioners have a helpless weakness for the most ambitious and bizarre visions of video gaming's great auteurs and obsessives. If you are a Fumito Ueda, or a David Cage, or a Kazunori Yamauchi, and you have a weird idea for a game that cannot possibly be made on budget and will confuse the hell out of the marketing department, then Sony has a few million dollars with your name on them.

  28. Horace's incredible journey

    Feature | Horace's incredible journey

How Die Hard Trilogy, a cancelled World Trade Center game and a small town in Kent led to this year's most overlooked masterpiece.

Where to start with a game like Horace? Maybe with how it's one of the year's finest games, and definitely its most overlooked. A sprawling, cinematic and ever-inventive 2D platformer - and puzzle game, and old-school arcade racer, and pixelart first-person shooter and about half a dozen other things it morphs into over its 20-hour running time - it's a lyrical flight of fancy that could only ever, really, have been made in the industrial town of Sittingbourne, Kent (or Shittingbourne, as it's affectionately known by locals).
