Born From Chaos

Difficulty:3 Stars
Begins:Solandra
Location:To the north-east of the Arcade
Available:Day 1
Prerequisite:Must have finished 1-2 of the main quest
Rewards:6,000 Gil, Brigand's Tricorne, Pendragon Shield, Max HP +120, Strength +12, Magic +10

Save this one for a little later on in your journey through Luxerion as it represents a pretty meaty challenge. Behind Solandra lurks the mighty Zomok, which we'd go as far as to say represents an impossible challenge for the new player in town.

When you've levelled up a little and feel ready for the challenge, there are a few things to know about this monster. First of all, it's extremely vulnerable to Lightning's physical attacks, as well as her spells from the Thunder category. Make sure you're well-equipped for both before beginning the fight, and be ready to guard against the creature's own powerful attacks.

The enemy's Heavenly Storm manoeuvre requires some sharp reflexes, as you'll have to guard against a flurry of individual attacks. Keep an eye out for Zomok's tail attack too - position Lightning behind or to the sides of Zomok to avoid both swipes.

Buried Passion

Difficulty:2 Stars
Begins:Armand
Location:To the south of the central section of The Residences
Available:Between the hours of 10am and 7pm
Prerequisite:Must have finished 1-4 of the main quest
Rewards:1,300 Gil, Black-Rimmed Glasses, Max HP +80, Strength +8, Magic +4

To get started on Buried Passion, simply listen a while to hear the opening part of Armand's quest story. That's about all you can do for now, but make a note to come back on the second and third days of the game to hear the rest of the tale.

Once you've heard all three sections, you'll need to travel to the Sorcery Shop in the Old Town. You need to find the Quill Pen hidden around here, so make sure you smash up every container until you've got your hands on it. Once you've got it, hand it in to Armand to get your rewards.

Dying Wish

Difficulty:2 Stars
Begins:Blythe
Location:West side of The Residences, down by the Gallery Steps
Available:Any time after Day 1 between the hours of 6am and 10pm
Prerequisite:None
Rewards:Tonberry's Lantern, Max HP +80, Strength +8, Magic +4

Your challenge here is to gather a handful of ingredients together in order to craft a Spectral Elixir. You can purchase the Shaolong Gui Shell from the merchant by The Forge for 600 Gil, while the Madragora Root costs 400 Gil and is available from the female merchant near the restaurant by the southern station. The final ingredient, Thunderclap Cap can be picked up from the floor in the Warehouse District.

Once you've gathered together all three of these ingredients, you'll need to make your way over to the Chocobo Emporium located in the Commercial District, between 11am and 5pm. In exchange, the merchant here will hand you the Spectral Elixir which you must then return to Blythe in order to get your just reward.

Faster Than Lightning

Difficulty:1 Star
Begins:Lamont
Location:At the western entrance of the Forsaken Graveyard
Available:Any time after Day 1, between the hours of 10am and 3pm
Prerequisite:None
Rewards:200 Gil, Gold Medal x 1, Max HP +30, Strength + 6

This is a very nice early quest to boost your levelling with, as Lamont isn't nearly as fast on his feet as he thinks he is. You'll need to make your way from the eastern entrance of the city to the Forsaken Graveyard in order to beat him - something you should have no trouble doing. Hang around until he finally catches up with you to get your reward for beating him.

Get The Girl

Difficulty:2 Stars
Begins:Lackley
Location:The open space above the east gate leading to The Warren
Available:Any time after Day 1, between the hours of 10am and 3pm
Prerequisite:Must have finished 1-5 of the main quest
Rewards:1,500 Gil, Exotic Shades, Max HP +80, Strength +4, Magic +8

When you accept Get The Girl, you'll be given a quest item called Lackley's Ring. You'll have to head to the Yusnaan region of the game, then speak to the Banquet Maitre D' who's located in the restaurant at the very top of the red carpeted stairs. Go back to Lackley when you've done this, watch the cut-scene play out, then meet up with the final quest character Seila. She's located by the east entrance to the Forsaken Graveyard.

Save any three-star combat side quests for last - they're tougher than you might expect.

Like Clockwork

Difficulty:2 Stars
Begins:Armena

Available:Between the hours of 8am and 6pm
Prerequisite:Must have finished 1-4 of the main quest

We hope you're feeling adventurous, because Like Clockwork's going to take you on a real tour about town. There are a total of 13 clocks spread around the city, and you're going to have to get up close and investigate every one of them. Here's where you'll find each one:

Available:From Day 1
Prerequisite:Must have finished 1-2 of the main quest
Rewards:400 Gil for each seed, Black Tattoo, Max HP +40, Strength +2, Magic +4

There's no easy way to get your hands on these Soul Seeds, and you're going to have to head right into the thick of the Chaos to get them. The monsters are tougher than usual inside this thick funk, but you should be able to grab a couple without having to face a single fight. Head to the Arcade section of Luxerion to get started on your collection.

Suspicious Spheres

Difficulty:1 Star
Begins:Virgil

Prerequisite:None
Rewards:300 Gil, Millionaire's Mustache, Max HP +40, Strength +4, Magic +2

Your task in this quest is to hunt down and investigate the three red spheres spread around the city. Once you've had a good look at each one, head back to Virgil to pick up your reward. If you're not in the mood for exploration, here's where you can find each one:

  • Over from the Canvas of Prayers located outside the southern station.
  • Next to Virgil himself.
  • By the Informative Man located in the Warehouse District.

Stuck in a Gem

Difficulty:2 Stars
Begins:Gem
Location:Right between the Holy District and the southern station

After talking to the moggy, make your way towards The Warren part of town. Once you get there, find the General Store and talk to Rubrio. Once you've got your hands on some Niblet Hairballs from fighting Niblets, give them to Rubrio in exchange for Starlit Spice.

Now go to the Old Town and talk to Ronan who's by the inn. As soon as the cut-scene finishes playing, get ready to run. If any of the cats manage to touch Lightning, you'll lose the Starlit Spice and have to go all the way back to Rubrio to start again. Make your way back to Ronan to complete the quest and pick up your reward.

The Angel's Tears

Difficulty:2 Stars
Begins:Luka
Location:Outside the southern station
Available:Between the hours of 4pm and 9pm
Prerequisite:None
Rewards:2,400 Gil, Crystal Tear, Max HP +80, Strength +4, Magic +8

You'll need a little spare change - 10 Gil, to be precise - in order to start this quest. Use the money to buy Luka's tears, hear her sorry tale, and then return the next day to buy more tears for 50 Gil. Come back on Day 3 and they'll cost you 300 Gil, while on the final two days you'll have to cough up 1,200 Gil. If this sounds like a high price to pay just to have someone cry on your shoulder, don't worry - you'll get all your money back at the same time you receive your rewards.

The Avid Reader

Difficulty:2 Stars
Begins:Ranulph
Location:Just south of the Clock Tower
Available:Between the hours of 5am and 11pm
Prerequisite:Must have finished 1-5 of the main quest
Rewards:900 Gil, Dull Grudge Knife, Max HP +60, Strength +6, Magic +4

After you've picked up the quest from Ranulph, go to the Commercial District between 5am and 1am the following day. Once you've spoken to the woman near the Chocobo Emporium, go to the Warren using the western entrance. You'll see a man with question marks written over his head, and if you ask him about a journal you'll receive Reddick's Letter.

Time to travel a little further abroad. Go to Yusnaan and head inside the restaurant by the station. You'll see a girl with question marks over her head - give her Reddick's Letter and you'll get the journal in exchange. After heading back to see Ranulph you've got a choice to make. If you decline the opportunity to read the journal, you'll finish the quest there and then. If you do read it, you'll get a new quest called To Save The Sinless (see below).

The Girl Who Cried Wolf

Difficulty:1 Star
Begins:Louise

Available:N/A
Prerequisite:Must have finished 1-5 of the main quest
Rewards:500 Gil, Leather Rucksack, Max HP +40, Strength +2, Magic +4

Walk passed the phone booth during the day and you'll hear it ring - all you need to do to actually initiate the quest is answer it! You'll be sent off on a trip around town answering a series of phones. The first is by the eastern entrance of the Forsaken Graveyard, and the second's near the southern station. You then need to go to the phone booth in the Old Town near the inn, and talk to the man nearby. All you have to do now is go to the General Store in the Warren and talk to the girl surrounded by men to complete the quest.

If you're not in the mood for exploring the world, you can use our side quest cheat sheets to get the less feisty content over with quickly.

There's nothing too complicated about this quest. Once you've spoken to Aermiah and accepted the quest, simply go to the north-east section of the Warehouse District and talk to the man hovering around the boxes there. When the cut-scene finishes, you just need to smash open the containers to get hold of the Crystal Shard. Take it back to Aremiah to finish the quest and receive your reward.

You'll need to get hold of the Green Carbuncle Doll which can be found on top of a pile of rubbish near the Forge in the Old Town. Note that you can only view the doll during the hours of 9pm and 6am. Take it to Dolce to get your quest rewards.

Now head to the western entrance of the Forsaken Graveyard and talk to the woman there for more details about the ghost. Lastly, go to the General Store near the southern station and talk to the man there about the problem.

You now need to speak to three ghosts to finish up the quest, but they're only visible to you between midnight and 4am. The first one can be found right in the middle of the Clock Tower, the second is by the altar in the Forsaken Graveyard, while the third can be found at the statue by the northern station.

Where Are You, Holmes?

If you've completed the Whither Faith side quest, head into the station and speak to Thorton to pick up this new quest. Holmes can be found near the north-eastern exit, and is wearing a station attendant's uniform. Once you've spoken to him, you'll have to lead him back to Thorton - just make sure you don't create too much distance between the two of you or he'll run away. Speak to Thorton again to get your quest rewards.

Whither Faith

This is the first side quest you'll stumble across when you arrive in Luxerion and it's a pretty simple case of wandering around town, looking at anything suspicious, and interrogating a handful of citizens.

After talking to the Inquisitor, investigate the glowing objects on the ground, then speak to everyone in the local area who's marked with a dialogue icon. Investigate every corner of the area until you've gathered every last clue, then head back to the Inquisitor to finish things up.
