Looks like Pokémon Go is planning two global ticketed events next month
A drive to investigate.
New files found overnight within Pokémon Go (by PokeMiners) reference two upcoming, unannounced ticketed events due to take place in-game next month.
These would be the second and third global ticketed events following last October's A Colossal Discovery Special Research, which granted early access to a forthcoming EX Raid boss. That felt just about worth the £8 entry fee - but there was some room for improvement.
The first upcoming event is currently titled "A Drive to Investigate", and is dated for 22nd March. A description for its ticket reads:
"A ticket to access the 'A Drive to Investigate' special event on March 22, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time, wherever you are. Details can be found in the in-game News."
Reference to a "Drive" in the event's name heavily implies this event will debut Genesect, the currently-unreleased Gen 5 Mythical which changes its attacks based on which type of computer drive item it is holding.
Genesect would also be a good candidate for the next EX Raid boss, which fits the way Regigigas was introduced via A Colossal Discovery.
The second event, currently titled "Investigating Illusions", would be the first of its kind. This appears to be a kind of bolt-on to the next Community Day on 15th March (which this also confirms as being for Abra - as teased by developer Niantic via Twitter this week).
Community Days are the monthly meetups where, well, communities who play the game get together. This would be the first time a paid add-on to it has been offered in this way.
A description for its ticket reads:
"A ticket to access the 'Investigating Illusions' bonus Special Research for Abra Community Day on March 15, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time, wherever you are. Details can be found in the in-game News."
Exactly what this add-on will provide is currently unclear - we've asked developer Niantic for more information.
