Valve has announced that the Macintosh version of its popular Steam game download client will be available on 12th May.

The Mac service, which was previously expected for April, will allow players to pay once for access to both Mac and PC versions of a game.

Those versions can then be connected via the Steam Cloud, so that a game started on a PC can be continued at the same point on a Mac.
