Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain Snake and Quiet gameplay revealed
UPDATE: New video shows off Tokyo Game Show demo.
UPDATE: We now have a video of the gameplay demo delivered at Tokyo Game Show today. Watch Snake and sniper Quiet sneak through a jungle below.
ORIGINAL STORY: Konami has unveiled new footage of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain featuring Snake and his new sniper pal Quiet, while Metal Gear Solid boss Hideo Kojima has just finished demoing a section of gameplay featuring the two live at Tokyo Games Show.
During the demo, Kojima also confirmed that the game would be released in 2015.
In the section of gameplay Eurogamer watched, we joined Snake as he was sneaking through jungle to a waterfall outpost, creeping around patches of hazy light which filtered through the surrounding trees. A couple of guards lay ahead.
For the first guard, Snake tossed a mine which popped out an inflatable lookalike of himself. The mine was thrown accurately enough that when it exploded, it blew the guard off of his cliff edge.
Snake crept up behind the second guard whose attention was distracted by the inflatable Snake. The real Snake was meanwhile charging up an electric stunner attached to his fist. The hapless, now-electrocuted enemy was then attached to a helium balloon and flown out of sight.
Next Snake came to a rope bridge across a chasm. Switching to a machine gun, Snake made quick work of the guards that flooded out and which were caught in the choke point.
It was then that Quiet joined in the action, popping into the field and then immediately ballooning out again to take aim from a safe vantage point.
But Snake didn't leave her much to do - a group of five enemies then appeared from dry, long grass nearby but all fell to a couple of well-placed petrol bombs.
The last foe to appear in the section was an enemy-controlled helicopter with front-mounted machine gun. Snake dived into cover behind a group of rocks and snapped into position there, while Quiet's laser sight could be seen taking pot shots from afar.
As the helicopter's attention became distracted by the sniper, Snake pulled out a grenade launcher to finish the helicopter off.
It was then Snake's turn to take to the air, as he called in a friendly helicopter for extraction from the mission.
He and Quiet both climbed aboard and the level concluded with the pair zooming off into the distance.
Konami's new trailer meanwhile features new story details about the two - watch it below.
