Following on from the critical success of SNK Playmore's Metal Slug Anthology for the PSP, Ignition Entertainment has announced that we can expect a PlayStation 2 version to arrive here in May.

Metal Slug Anthology is a compilation of all the old side-scrolling SNK action games that bore the great names. There's Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug 4, Metal Slug 5, and the newest addition to the series, Metal Slug 6.

Some can be played co-operatively with another fellow sitting next to you, perhaps brushing his fingers tenderly along the shoulders of your Dual Shock, and there are unlockable items too for those who really enjoy themselves.

Not convinced? Then read our thoroughly enthusiastic Metal Slug Anthology PSP review and be alarmed into agreement. After all, we're usually mean to the PSP.

Metal Slug Anthology PS2 will be distributed in Europe by Atari.
