MGS5: The Phantom Pain bumps PC release forward to match consoles

UPDATE 4/8/15 10.30am: Konami has now detailed the PC specifications that you'll need to play Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

Recommended specs require 8GB of RAM and a 3.60GHz processor - or better. The full list lies below:

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4460 (3.40 GHz) or better; Quad-core or better
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM

  • Hard Drive: 28 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

ORIGINAL STORY 3/8/15 6.30pm:

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will launch on PC 1st September alongside its console brethren on PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Its PC version was previously scheduled to come out two weeks later on the 15th.

Furthermore, all Steam customers will receive some extra goodies, such as a documentary on the making of the game along with DLC like the Venom Snake emblem and extra Mother Base Staff.

Pre-ordering The Phantom Pain on Steam will also net you its prologue, MGS5: Ground Zeroes, at no additional charge.

Like Ground Zeroes, The Phantom Pain's PC version will offer 4k resolution support. Konami also partnered with Nvidia on a promotion wherein those who purchase a qualifying GeForce GTX GPU will receive a bonus copy of The Phantom Pain.

While all version of The Phantom Pain will have a simultaneous release, the Metal Gear Online portion will trail behind for PC players, The console versions will go live on 6th October while the PC version is set for a January 2016 launch.

"We initially did not think it would be possible to get such an epic game out onto PC in time for launch alongside its console counterparts, but all involved have worked diligently to meet the demands of our PC consumers," said president of Konami Digital Entertainment B.V Tomotada Tashiro. "Now PC users will be able to explore the vibrant and beautifully-realised locations and set-pieces that elevate Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain beyond all other action titles."
